I'm fairly sure of five:

 

Clemence, Keegan, Hughes, Neal and Phil Thompson

 

After that I'm struggling: did Ray Kennedy, Terry McDermott or Tommy Smith ever captain England? Actually I'm beginning to think: did Tommy Smith even play for England?

 

To follow on: name three England internationals since 1966 with three Os in their surname.

Ray and Alan Kennedy both did I believe.

 

I can't actually remember the 8th off the top of my head (oops!! <img src="/forums/images/icons/blush.gif" alt="" /> ). I'll have to check, but McDermott may well be right.

Only 8 Liverpool players have ever captained England, the five mentioned above plus Beardsley, Ince and Owen.

 

Neither Kennedy has ever captained England, and the three above were all much later than 1973.

Maybe it included under-21's as well or something?? Or maybe they weren't at Liverpool at the time of their England captaincy?? Or maybe I've just ballsed it all up.
