Matty Miller goes on loan

I had a little chat with Matt last night after the Christmas draw and he told me he is going on loan to Thame Utd for a month, starting this Saturday with a trip to Mangotsfield (where the f*** is Mangotsfield?). Personally I'd prefer it if he didn't go on loan but hopefully a bit of first team football with Thame will see him break his first team goalscoring hoo-doo and boost his confidence. We've a lot of games coming up in the next couple of months with games in the league and three cup competitions, so if he can find his sharpness it could be a very good move for both Matt Miller and Slough Town.

Plus it opens up the possibility of two Slough Town legends playing alongside each other. Matt Miller and Mark West!

I am a bit disappointed by that particularly after his showing in the reserves. I think it leaves us short on options up front. Hopefully though, the first team action with Thame will see him get properly match fit and then he will be able to force his way into our side on his return.

Thame Swindon Supermarine it is then.

Maybe this is an acknowldegement from Eddie that he's close to a first team place and just needs first team match sharpness to get him there. I think a fully fit Matty with a couple of goals behind him could be the difference for us this season between a good finish and an average one.

Once again I think we need to trust Eddie's judgement in this.

Matty has been doing well in the reserves, but has failed to shine in the first team.

This is a relatively low-risk strategy for Slough (more risky for Thame!). If Miller finds his form while away with Thame, he will hopefully bring it back into Slough's first team on his return. If he does not find his form, Slough's first team results will not have suffered as a result.

Totally agree PJ. Eddie seems to be getting things right thus far, so I'd back him up on just about anything he's doing for the club right now.

It will give Matty a chance to get competetive games under his belt as to be honest, he's not been at his best for us recently when appearing in the first team. I really do hope he can rediscover that form when he returns.

Miller was a 30 goal a season man at Yeading Woody in the not too distant past. Doesn't take much to find that out. He's proven at this level of football with a great deal of success at Yeading and is a fans favourite here at Slough despite his lack of first team opportunities due to a poor run of luck with niggly injuries.

As for the Windsor reserves, their match with Waltham Forest was postponed this week as they couldn't field a side. I think though with the restructuring going on at the club at the moment, that's fair enough. DC would want to look at his own choice of players in the ressies and with a number of players currently looking or having already moved to Maidenhead, they are probably reviewing the players they have available for Saturday first.

Gary- It was called off on tuesday because the team had no manager! I even heard Mal was gonan be manager for that game!

Mal told me he brought in a few players for the reserves so i don't think there is a shortage of players.

Woody, the game was on Thursday according to the Capital League fixture lists. Waltham Forest were told there were issues in Windsor fielding a side - see Isthmian Forum - hence my posting.

Think you were within your rights to postpone it though given the events of this week.
