The thing is mate, Yeading's bubble will burst. They are only as good as they are because of their decent manager and current playing squad. If the manager leaves YFC will lose their team. If a decent offer comes in the players will go anyway. Nobody wants to play in front of average crowds of 137. If the current cup run regularly boost that attendance they have chance of succeeding at this level and at the conference. But on attendances of 137 they cannot sustain high level football regardless of whether they own the ground and have plenty of dosh from television. Unless of course they resort to rent a fan...............

Its not all about fans you know, its about the standard you play at, of which Yeading will be at a higher standard than Slough next year.

And it's not all about the standard you play at either. Several of Yeading's players are there solely because of the manager and could easily play at a higher level. They don't because they choose to stay with Hypolite. Alex will stay because he likes playing for Slough.

In the upper echelons of the conference you have to be big, strong & quick, Dudley is only one of those.

And Ian is spot on about crowds and support, Slough have both, Yeading dont. Anyone watch Roma v Real Madrid recently, a similar crowd to Yeading no doubt ?

Do Yeading actually meet the financial and ground criteria for Conference promotion? Or will they end up an unwilling Hendon?

conference grading: 4,000 capacity and 500 seats which teams have to show a measure towards moving towards within two years. Yeading, unless they have expansion plans won't meet that, and with their pathetic attendances I can't see the local council granting them permission to expand when it's basically pointless

But KoC, there is room within their existing ground to put in extra terracing. They only need an increase of 500 on the overall capacity and probably about 200 seats as part of that.

Also, look where it is situated. Who's exactly going to be concerned if they do develop the ground. It's hardly going to affect residents. The money the tie with Newcastle is going to generate is going to more or less wrap up their promotion and develop their ground somewhat as well I would imagine, and good luck to them.
