This is on the bbc kents web site:

Margate Football Club should know whether they can finally go ahead with building their new ground at Hartsdown Park by Friday. The club's hoping its business plan will be approved by the council, which is the last piece of the jigsaw they need before building work can commence. Margate manager Chris Kinnear has said that if they get the good news soon, it'll do wonders for what's not been happening on the pitch.

I hope this is true, but I thought there had to be a consultation period of eight weeks. Does this mean, in theory, bulldozers could move in on Saturday? Mind you, Radio Kent are known to get things wrong.

i think this means the the council give the recomondation to let the stdium to be built and then they wait 8 weeks to see if people give a resionable reason for the stadium to be built. then after 8 weeks the work can begin. plus we might still have to wait for approvale from the GOSE as the plans had changed since they tast saw them(please correct me if i am wrong). but fingers crossed.

i wish the council would release a statment regarding this as im sure everybody would be apprecative. as i and i sure others do not know what this means exactly, for intance if we get the ok on or by friday will this mean we can start building strait away or do we still have to wait for period of time, and if this is the case what amount of time would this be eg 8 weeks or 10 weeks or even 12 weeks. i would be very greatful if this could be clarified, thanks.

You hit the nail on the head. "if the council keeps their word"

Their track record is very poor so we will see.

Bearing in mind that if the ground is stopped then the Art Centre will start running into trouble as there is enough evidence at the moment for an investigation.

Is that on top of the last figure of £25 million.

The start figure in 2002 was a massive £12 million of taxpayers money which then more than doubled in 18 months. ( Just think that the reason they would not use the old Sea Bathing Hospital was that the air conditioning in there might damage the modern art work (like Tracy Emin's stuff)

So will the white elephant cost £25 million or £31 million?? Whatever, the KCC committee that agreed to it whilst basic social services etc are being cut back should be made to think again or pay for the project out of their own pockets (allowences thay get for being county councillors)

Who is building the turner centre? The very same people who built the TITANIC. And that was meant to be a dead cert not to sink. Says it all really dosent it. Still,we are getting of the beaton track here are we not? Does anyone really expect a decision within a week from the council? Dont think so somehow. They are going to use every second up to make things as uncomfortable as can be for us. I do thnk it will go ahead but the permission wont be granted just yet in my view.

There are still uncertain episodes still to come in this long drawn out saga. Just like the club, the council wont go down without a fight if it really is their desire to prevent us going forward with things.
