(Players) Half Term Report

To go with Gary's season review type thingy, here's my view of the players so far. All marks out of 10.

Jake Whincup - 7

An up and down three months but definate potential

Michael Parkin - 6

Looked good in the ressies but hasn't really performed when given his chance in the 1st team

Shaun Allaway - 8

Great start against Walsall, only low point is his kicking

Josias Carbon - 8

When he's going forward he's awesome but sometimes has looked dodgy if he gets caught upfield

Steve Daly - 9

Captain fantastic again, had one dodgy spell when we lost three on the spin but overall is still as good as he was when he first joined

Michael Murphy - 9

Looks really confident this season and his comical goal against Dover will be remembered

James Saulsbury - 9.5

IMO just slightly better than the other two as he is just slightly more comfortbale on the ball, reads the game so well

Martin Moller - 7

Reliable when called upon and scored the winner against Salisbury

Nick Gyoury - 5

Hasn't had many chances but did a good job at Croydon when we were short on players

Alex Haddow - 10

My player of the half season, gives his all on the left and tracks back better than Josias, his Player of the Round was fully deserved

Danny Steer - 6

Another one whose had limited opportunities but played excellently when he replaced Alex at Chelmsford

Darron Wilkinson - 8

Really inspirational performances, he seems to play his best when everyone else has an off day, still has occasional dodgy moments but his winner against Salisbury means he deserves that mark

Christian Metcalfe - 7

An excellent second debut at Dover but has looked patchy since, biggest surprise was when he scored at Hampton

Glen Harris - 9.5

Winner against Walsall was enough to get him that mark but his performances have been getting better and better as the season goes on

Sam Shepherd - 4

Injuries haven't given him a chance yet but played well in his only game so far

Veli Hakki - 5

Again injuries have let him down, should be more influential when we get him back

Ryan Spencer - 8

Has added real vision (OH YES) since his return, and two fantastic lobbed goals will live long in the memory

Ian Hodges - 7.5

For me, he hasn't been quite as influential as last year in terms of his team play, but he still gets the goals when we need them

Matt Murphy - 7

In and out of the team due to his virus and being cup tied, has looked good when he's played but prefer to see him up front than in midfield

Matt Seedel - 7

Great transformation since the start of the season, his first goal helped his confidence and a fantastic cameo when he came on against Walsall

Matt Miller - 5

Needs a goal quickly to get his confidence back up, if he gets a run in the team then hopefully the chances will come, other than that great half time entertainment

The only other player who's appeared (to my knowledge) is Assu Bizzy but not enough time to judge him. Please feel free to agree (or disagree ie. probably by marking Spencer down drastically) with my marks.

Nice to hear from you Cousin Norb, was hoping for some disagreement. There is (as you may have noticed) a large Saulsbury fan club developing behind the goal as, from our view, he does look the most composed of the back three. Maybe this looks different from the side, fair point. And with Seedel, you've got to admit he's got better, maybe a 6 or 6.5 would have been fairer for the way he started the season but I thought a 7 was about right for his recent performances. I'm just upset you haven't complained about the Wilkinson rating.

See you Thursday night I expect.

Once again I invite the rest of you to continue slagging off my fantastically well thought out ratings. BRING IT ON!!!!!

Saulsbury looks just as composed from the side as he does from behind the goal - even one or two of the stand doubters (from the beginning of the season) have changed their minds and voted for him as November player for the the month, so sorry, Norbert, don't agree!
