The Squad......

AFF

Recommended Posts

Having sifted through the back copies of The Observer, I think that we have "signed" the following who have "committed their future to The Saints":

GK:Wilmot & GHA.

Back 4: Gould, Brown, Moran.

Midfield: Challinor, Evans, Smith, Castle, Cook.

Strikers: Martin, Sippets, Mackail-Smith.

Then there's there's 6 or 7 of the ex-Yoof and The Reserves.

I presume that Pre-Contract Agreeements have been signed and The Duo are "looking at":

Townley, Chapman, Naylor, Ayres, Bridge, Ullathorne, Richards and one more whose name I can't remember but who looked quite lively. [it might have been J-F Hasselbaink.]

Third favourites for The Drop, my btm.

Doh! I must be out of practise.

Imagine forgetting Keen, particularly as I have been impressed with him in these three games. So he's down for the right side of midfield. That helps.

Beevor is another one that they are looking at, methinks. What is the name of the Hasselbaink look-alike?

Hi Rob.

Hmmnn.

Townley, Waldron, Chapman, Beevor, Ayres, Richards, Bridge, Ullathorne.

I don't know anything about football, but I would keep 3, 2 for the first team and one for the squad, and send the rest to St. Osyth.

My view, from what I've seen so far...

Bridge - keep <img src="/forums/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Chapman - keep <img src="/forums/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Beevor - keep <img src="/forums/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Ayres - keep <img src="/forums/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Richards - not sure <img src="/forums/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" />

Townley & Waldron - thanks but no thanks <img src="/forums/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

Ullathorne - if we can afford him (!) keep <img src="/forums/images/icons/crazy.gif" alt="" />

What we do need is a big striker, who can hold the ball up and provide knock downs for Simon or whoever else plays up front. At the moment, the forward line looks a too lightweight for my liking.

Ullathorne is a mediocre journeyman, who will always chase the highest bidder. We don't need players like him. This is where we have fell down in the past. Ayres, I feel we should definitely keep. I see some potential there. The same with Chapman. I am still making my mind up over the rest.

Ullathorne played against Watford but not since. Perhaps he's gone to St. Osyth.

Against London Colney, we saw Simon, Craig and Gary Sippetts who have committed their future to the Saints. I think we are 'looking at' Bridge [ex Baldock?] and James Richards who played but neither were on display against Northampton.

Nichols played against The Cobblers. I think that Hasselbaink is a better bet, personally. Perhaps we could have a look at him and send Nichols back to The Bridge.
