Our next home win ...

Recommended Posts

... will I say with full confidence, come on Tuesday 28th December, when we will complete the double over Crawley. (Don't look up my position in The Prediction League or you might not share my certainty!)

I am away with the Good (ha ha) Wife over Christmas, but shall be returning on the 28th itself, so making sure I'm back on time is vital. I see it's down on Confguide as a 3pm, rather than 7.45 kick off, which would be logical if it's being treated as a special holiday game, rather than a standard Tuesday fixture. Anyone know for certain?

Whoops!

Yes silly me. Can't read straight now. What a discovery after years of adjusting to not being able to think straight either.

Anyway, 1st home win will still be on 28th, when we will also record our 1st double, but over Accy, not Crawley. They will provide us with our 2nd double on New Years day.

Thanks for confirmation of kick off time. Will ensure I'm back well before 3.

Look the reality of the current situation is
1. 18th/19th finish at the end of the season.
2. The good players will get snapped up by the full time clubs.
3. We will be playing at Stonebridge Road for the next 6+ seasons.
4. Support will dwindle to around a hardcore of about 550.
5. Eventually, lower league football here we come.

None of the above makes me happy as I would like to see another club from Kent in the Football League, but it aint gonna happen. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bawling.gif" alt="" />

I felt exactly like this at half time last Tuesday. We all feel like it sometimes. Those of us who have followed the Fleet for at least one decade (only into my fourth personally - small beer by some standards) always expect this to happen.

But, I truly believe, it is not the reality. I, for one, was not thinking like this at full time on Saturday. The positive signs are too strong. I over-estimated our strength in depth at the start of the season & the style & professionalism, which the likes of Barnet & Carlisle are capable of, makes what we used to see at the pinnacle of non league football look very ordinary.

However, we are definitely a better side than we were this time last year. I'm still confident of:

1. a top 10 finish

2. at least 2 points from the next two away games

3. at least 4 points from the next 2 at home.

Remind me of this if we fall short.

Beat you, now into my 5th decade - and I STILL think this is the best side ever.

I would now go for Roy and Craig up front, but would play Pinns in the midfield (for more creativity) and have Harrhy on the bench.

Pullen

Gledhill McCarthy Moore Skinner

Sidebe McKimm Pinnock Drury

Essandoh McAllister

Subs

Wilkerson Protheroe Lovell Saunders Harrhy

Let us get back to our passing game creating lots of good things from midfield and the wings instead long hoofs down the field and the 3 destructive combative midfielders we are getting used to!

Food for thought?

Whats wrong with Saunders - playing superb back where he should be and when Surey is fit he should come back in - we played well when we had the 3 battlers in midfield with either Drury or Moussa, leaving the other player to come on and liven it up . . . . . back to winning ways me thinks - Pinnock would not cut it in midfield IMO...
