Ash live Saturday Night

Recommended Posts

Went to FROG at the LA2 (Mean Fiddler) on Saturday night with gertcha and the "surprise band" were none other than the fantastic ASH!

It's wicked to see such a big band in such an intimate/small venue.

They didn't fart about with album tracks either, a set of singles.

Girl from Mars

Shining Light

Kung Fu

Candy

Burn Baby Burn

A life less Ordinanry

Renagade Cavalcade

Orpheus

Standout Track - Kung Fu!

And then last night I played crazy golf until 12.45am

And now I'm going to sleep, I've only had 2hrs in the last 41

Ash supported The Darkness last night at Wembley Arena.

Only caught the tale end of the set but they sounded bloody impressive. Burn Baby Burn was excellent.

I also saw Ash on Sunday night and to be honest was a bit disappointed. They were obviously trying very hard but there seemed to be something amiss with the sound system. The drum bass was too far forward and I couldn't really make out the vocals. All in all a bit distorted.

As for Darkness - I initally was very impressed but ultimately their ego trip got me down. Somehow I don't really see them being around too far into the future because at the end of the day they are just a one tune band with a goodish stage show.

Mind you I don't know what I'm talking about. In my day it was all about about Lindisfarne, Quo etc. Too young to die too old to rock 'n roll that's me !

I thought The Darkness were OK but agree with you about the ego.

They spoilt the encore with an overlong version of "Love on the Rocks With No Ice" and seemed intent on trying to play the loudest guitar solo. This got a bit tiresome and a few including me and my mate decided to leave early and unfortunately missed them coming back on and doing Band Aid.

Overall it was a decent show but I think sometimes Justin Hawkins goes a little over the top. That was a little embarrassing when he started doing Stevie Wonder!!

I was standing near the toilets when they came back on and did Band Aid. Would have gone back in but had already taken my wristband off!!! Doubt it was a very good version but as it's the EFM anthem it would have been nice to have a singalong!! Me and my mate gave it an airing walking back to the tube!!!
