...I am not registered. However, went today and we were pants. Watson played 90 minutes which must be a first.

pants maybe but we missed Stadhart and losing Darren A so early screwed things up - still we can finsih strongly after Xmas

god with a performance like today i cant see where our next win is going to come from. yet alone power on after xmas..

I did not think we were as bad as that; but fed up with saying that.

 

Deserved a point and possibly better.

 

Even and (apart from 4 substitutions due to injury first half)uneventful first half.

 

Another goal from a free kick after barnett needlessly bundled someone over.Another long ball to far post.Their defender arrives late.Outjumps all,and the centre forward sweeps it home after he is left unmarked in 6 yard box.Trego was unhappy about the marking from his defence.

 

Nearest we got otherwise was a Clarke free kick(on for Benevides with cut head and possibly concussion ) with free kick that went over bar.

 

Second half, the midfield functioned, took control and Margate pressed forwad without looking really menacing; but played decent football and were the better side.

 

However nearest we got to a goal was (think it was Watson as i had disappeared down far end)hit a power shot that was goalbound but instead hit their defender and virtually cut him in half.

 

Last 10 minuts Hayes had a few chances as game opened out, and Trego made his only serious save when he made a superb reflex stop and catch low down doubling backwards.

 

Again, we had no real penetration.

 

Annon looks like got a badly twisted ankle.

 

Smith played well, Bouadji looks accomplished and quick.Increasingly impressive.

Greg looked off the pace again in last 30 minutes and was limpimg again( i reckon when Green fit, that Bouadji will be pushing greg for his place!!

 

The midfield looked ok with Clarke, Keister and Gradley(Gradley had poor first half but very good second half as did all the midfield) .Have to say that Peter B is the weakest link in midfield but as many others have posted is a good winger/sub for last 30 minutes.

 

However, their midfield was very poor so i think we need to go to 4 in midfield with Rocky (who has best ball control of everyone playing behind the front two of Che and Watson).

To me the sweeper role played by Annon or Edwards is unecessary and clogs things up.

As before Greg is neither in midfield, defence or right back .Tries to fulfil all 3 roles and thus all suffer.

 

Watson was ok, and looked as fit in 90th minute as he did in the first but did not impose himself as he should.

 

Edwards cleared the ball reasonably well but has no idea of distribution to own side.

 

Che was missed .Watson has presence but little movement/does not find space/gaps.

You can see why CK plays Che and Rocky because of the movement

 

Everyone was generally ok ,Keister worked really hard and won balls he had no right to.

 

Deserved a point or better; but again, seem to keep on saying that but we do not seem to get the results

I always love the optomists post match report, it reminds me so much of a tired marketing approach.

 

Anyone, touched by the sad reality of the game wanna give it a crack.....and this time tell the truth, the real truth!!!
