DOVER SCORE

Steve Browne got a bit of abuse and DJZ was his usual constant source of amusement. Attendance was 374 and they missed a penalty at 3-0 down which Allaway saved. They also had a 'goal' not given in the first 60 seconds which was supposedly well over the line. We had a cast iron penalty turned down also though for a foul on Josias in the second half.

Their comeback was entirely of our own making as we gave up playing at 2-0.

Excellent result, cheered me up after a cack day dragging round shops of Sheffield. League position a bit more respectable, although still only 10 points between 4th & 18th!

Good to see Browne is in touch with reality - see this posting under his name on the Dover Forum -http://www.doverathletic.com/forum/read.php?f=1&i=32243&t=32243#reply_32243

Looking forward to my next trip down South on boxing day, and a push up the table with the games in hand.

Good to get three points, but our deep defending in the second half allowed an extremely sh1t team to score two goals and almost sneek a draw.

The team were passing well and I thought Spencer, Smurf 2 and Hodges all had good games but I think the Mullet was our best player, he created lots of chances.

There is no way Dover will stay up this season, I feel sorry for their dedicated supporters. They had a fairly good size following travel up on a very unappealing day. I hope they sought there financal problems and then give Browne the boot.

Yeah we were in cruise control after going 3-0 up and then the referee failed to give us a blatent penalty (I think he did not give it as we were 3-up) and that could have really cost us which annoyed me.

Defence were not at their best today, still a bit shakey from the Yeading game maybe, but we had spells of really good football - especially early second-half, but we need to make those spells longer.

Disappointing we were hanging on at the end, but a good win and three points!

Must do better I think would be the most important phrase. Sitting there at 3-0 up and cruising we turned off and allowed them to dominate the game. I would have hoped we'd have learnt our lessons from last week and letting teams dominate and pressure us, but seemingly not.

Saulsbury and Haddow had good games, Hodgey was largely ineffective again I thought.

Sitting two points above the relegation zone at the start of the day, a win by any means was what was needed. However, to be 3-0 up an cruising to hanging on for the win by our fingernails at the end was not good enough. A welcome win, but we really must do better once we are in front
