REALITY CHECK - NEW GROUND IS DEAD

Guest

Recommended Posts

I alone as a Margate supporter attended the council meeting to night.

Documents submitted by MFC not sufficient.

If no more to satisfy council requirements by 4.00pm tomorrow, the ground will be RECONSTITUTED !!! WAKE UP IT'S OVER

I do not know if this is true or not, but i never understood why the council put such a tight timescale on for submission of plans;but equally you should always be cautious of developers-they always have a number of schemes on the go and will choose the ones where lest effort and biggest/quickest return is available.

However, i remain hopeful that MFC will have(after the Stadia Management problems)chosen their development partner wisely and professionally ,and continue to prey that it will all come good for the club and current developers.

Also ,as i understand it, the planning permission for the ground alone is there.

Just the small problem then of getting someone with £4m spare to pay for building the ground on its own (which will be a depreciating asset);without the associated land to add value.

There is a very good post on the Dover forum highlighting their difficulties, but equally the support they are getting from local council/ politicians;and in particular, it stresses that a football club is as much of a cultural asset/attraction as a museum/art gallery/zoo etc.

A football club is an integral part of the community and just hope that TDC will recognise that.

It may take TDC to say, 'sod it' ,lets dispense with this nonsense, and build the ground from public funds for the club and community.

At least they would have ownership/control and supporters would have their football club.
