Time for Watson to start ?

[color:"blue"] Is it time for Darren Watson to start a match and perhaps help us build a lead, rather than rescue us from defeat ?

I'd say the answer is yes.

PRO'S: [color:"blue"] There can be no doubt that his awkward style unsettles teams - this should be exploited. .... He could replace Benevides who is starting to struggle for long periods.

CON'S: [color:"blue"] His fitness /stamina is suspect & he couldn't last a game. .... If he 'swapped' roles with Benevides (ie Watson for 70 mins / Benevides on as sub for 20 mins) then Benevides, as a complete contrast to Watson could cause the same unrest that Darren does.

What do you think ?

Good last point Peter-that could work;but would balance of team work.

If we had better quality in midfield then maybe it would.

Do not know the answer to this one and do not envy CK.

Vital thing is to keep Darren happy so he stays.

I think interesting thing to contemplate is:

In a full season , if everythin equal ,who would score most goals out of Rocky ,Che and Darren.

My answer would be Darren.

But then:

As a partnership who would score most COMBINED goals out of

Darren and Rocky

Rocky and Che

Darren and Che.

Probably Rocky and Che which is i guess why they start.

However, i reckon Darren is a superb player.

I'm not convinced that at the moment Watson has the stamina for 90 mins. But, we need 3 decent strikers, and with Che, Rocky and Darren that's what we have. I do wonder if Moses could do a wide midfield job for us. He would also be capable of coming inside and troubling defenders.

WE have 3 great strikers, but need tough battlers in midfield where we are currently too lightweight;and 3 strikers could only be accommodated if we weaken midfield further and/or play the long ball game.

Just don't know the answer to this one.

Fact is, it will probably resolve itself by someone unfortunately getting injured or suspended.

We are very fortunate to have the joint third and fourth top strikers in the league as our strike force.

If Watson keeps popping them in, however, we will have a serios dilemma - or we could go with three strikers, Rocky maybe taking the slot just behind Che and Darren so he could weave his magic in either direction.

Did he not start in this position last season when he joined us? Remember how he revitalized the team when he arrived, and gifted Che and Siggy the service that got them both scoring again at the end of the season?

[color:"blue"] My solution(it's not easy) is:

Darren & Che start up front.

Rocky plays just behind them, IMO Rocky is a very good provider for the front line.

After 70 mins. if DW is starting to flag bung on Peter B in his free role just behind the front two, pushing Rocky forward to out & out striker.

I'll buy that, but who else in midfield?

gradley is a must imo.

JK alongside; but then you only have 2 true midfielders in front of an average defence;and no-one to provide crosses or go along the flanks to provide width to your 2/3 man strike force all wanting quality crosses?

Again ,difficult one this

I'd like to see darren start or at least get more of a game, with his size and strength he is bound to create chances. So I go for Darren and Che up front, for me the jury is still out on rocky( I just cant see any real effort and a few touchs of brilliance is not enough ) so if we have to have a creative midfielder behind the front two maybe we should be looking to bring back Terry. However as I said elsewhere I'd rather see solid ball winners in midfield at the moment.

Whatever formation is decided on Darren Watson , as the classiest act we have should be used to the full. If that means him starting then tiring and then to be pulled off after 60 mis or whatever then so be it but I would imagine by that time he would have inflicted enough damage anyway for the rest to coast home.
