Memorabilia

This Aldershot stuff is getting a little boring now - so here is a kick off question.

When travelling back from Accrington the other week, I had a screwed up copy of the match programme and a souvenir mug to comemorate me visiting a new ground.

It occured to me that this was a small piece of the clubs history (no seriously, bare with me here) - It's our first season in the Confernce and we have hit our highest ever league position this season (next season will be better I'm sure!)

When you look around at other clubs they have memorabilia from cup games, promotion and even relegation years.

Finally - the point of my question is - are any Gulls fans collecting bits and pieces from home and away games which in many years to come could be "club collectors items"? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bow.gif" alt="" />

I seem to be amassing quite a number of programmes on the unit next to my bed. Even now, its great to read through some of them just to remind yourself on things.

I also have videos of a few of the big games where we have featured on the telly.

Until a few years ago, I used to watch the big games only but am now more of a converted follower because these are all just about big games now!

Many years from now these programmes will be our only real reminder of our first season in the Conference - we may be in the league or back in the Sunday pub league at that point, but its still club history.

When you think that potentially, 40 away fans acquire a program (28 if its Aldershot)then these are our only records against certain clubs. Up until a short while ago I had a copy of the Newport County v Southend programme which I think was the first straight relegation from Div 4 to Conference without re-election. Look at Newport County now. Also had a few Aldershot V Southend from Div 4 - again some history if you think the current "Shots rose from the ashes" and are not the original club.

I can see it now - Sotherbys 2080 - "and the next lot is a programme from Northwich Victoria v Canvey Island on Guy Fawkes night, a very rare edition - shall we start the bidding at £30,000" followed by " a rare beer stained Orange Canvey away shirt - shall we start the bidding at £2 or any offers?" <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Got every home programme from the last couple of years and always buy a programme when I go to away games.

Most prized possesion is a Canvey v Hornchurch programme from the last game of last season signed by the likes of Mints, Duffers, Wardy, Junior etc.
