As I was queuing in the newsagent for my copy of 'Horse & Hound', I scanned the back page of the St Albans Observer.

 

Manager Colin Lippiatt slammed his sides performance on Tuesday night which he described as 'embarrassing'. 'Only Lee Clarke and Gary Elphick emerge with any credit' or words to that effect.

 

[i thought to myself that he is likely to receive a blast from Gibbo in our next matchday programme as negative comments like what that is will cost the club £12,000 per season if even 50 people are put off from coming [sic] to Clarence Park as a result. 'Positive spin' Lippo, I thought. Try 'pulsating' etc. etc.]

 

Of great concern, the article confirmed that Matt 'Matty' Nolan [Pizza, spaghetti bolognese & chinese, Eminem and Spain] has returned to Reterborough after his loan spell at Clarence Park. That explains why the tree was brought on for the last 20 on Tuesday, presumably.

 

There was reference to the tough job that is in front of him, ['I knew that it was going to be tough when I first arrived but now I know that it's going to be really, really, tough' etc.] financial constraints etc. etc.

According the online version of the Observer the club couldn't afford to extend Nolan's loan. Shouldn't that be changed to 'the kind fan/sponsor who stumped up the cash for the first loan period won't be doing it again'.

 

Oh and the HSC game is on Jan 25th, not Jan 5th as in the paper.

The performance by Gerrard last night was majestic and it just epitomised where a good many of our problems lie on the pitch. No natural leader.

 

And 7 or 8 blokes on contract. What is all that about? This has to be seriously looked at and the dead wood shipped out by whatever means possible. It is strangling the club.

Gerrard is also a local boy who grew up supporting Liverpool and now plays for the club he loves. Thats where the pride and passion comes from .... the fact that he is a good player as well helps a lot too.

 

As for some of the players at City at present, well I'm not sure which category they would fit into .....
