George Borg was Graham Roberts' assistant at Enfield in 93/94, when the E's finished runners-up. Roberts got the heave-ho and Borg took over. Twelve months later Enfield were champions by 14 points under Borg.

Interesting sub-plot is the Roberts argument that Borg only won the League the year after 'cos he left all 'his' players for him to finish the job. Borg would argue that it was his managerial technique that made all the difference.

 

In the end it didn't matter anyway as Enfield failed the same Conference financial criteria that City failed in 1993 and were refused promotion. Unfortunately, Enfield couldn't offer a tree as a diversion - just Lazarou!
