Tonights game

Recommended Posts

Interesting match.

Obiously poor for the first half hour odd, and some awful errors caused their two goal lead, but thought we played much better after that.

What a bunch of fouling ba***rds! how many yellows did they end up with? 8 or 9 and a red??

Thought we might've nicked one at the end. Shame we didn't, it would have been good karma.

Oh and the linesman on the road side was an ar$e

to be fair we weren't dirty but we weren't exactly the best with our tackle stonight, but then again neither were you. Our players were booked for anything where as yours go tof scott free. Pacquettes sending of was a joke, first yellow was never a yellow, he turned f the player and your player threw himself to the ground, the second booking was definately a booking as it was a dirty foul! oh well a draw is better than nothing and apart from the [****!!****] ref i actually enjoyed the game, last thing though, what a load of squawkers along your side terrace!!

good luck for the season, Jellis FTFC

Shut up! Mcarthy was superb - Moore was ok looked better than he has and scored an opportunist goal!!

Both goals severe defensive errors as usual but we are a team! lets empaphise not criticise.

Agreed - definitely missed Essendohs flicks we won ZERO headers up front - again no fault of our strikers - who i thought were superb but we need more arial threat - il get mi boots!!!

Quote:
It was a straight red, he went straight through on Pullen

As far as I could see Pacquette was shown a second yellow and then red. Have to agree that it was a bit harsh for Farnborough to pick up so many more cards than we did, even though Pacquette deserved to go.

Admittedly, injury problems are really taking their toll at the moment, as reflected by the presence of Pennock and Luke Moore on the bench last night. However, it was another poor display, and although Farnborough's first goal was very well-worked, our defence seemed rather static. Our corners were again pretty shoddy, almost always being comfortably cleared at the near post (a recurring problem for us).

On a positive note, I thought Gledhill had a pretty good game - always a better defensive option in my view than Proths, whose strengths seem to lie elsewhere (e.g. free-kicks).

The curse of dropping Wilko seemed to be recurring when Pullen missed the ball for their second, but he largely redeemed himself, particularly with the late save from Holloway, which was really the best chance to win it from either side. Still, the timing of dropping Wilko is perhaps a little odd, given that he has done little wrong in the last few games.

Under the circumstances of being two down, I'll happily take a point, but with the fixtures coming up, not winning this one could prove costly. Looking forward to Boxing Day's game, at least Crawley lost their unbeaten league home record tonight... although that was against Barnet. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

As for their second goal, Pullen was put into a dodgy position from bad defending letting the ball drop through.

Granted, he could have been a bit quicker in committing himself and coming off his line but he used his head and ducked the challenge.

OK, they scored from it but it could have been ten men after 20 minutes and 2-0 down which may have been insurmountable.

Agree that Gledhill had a solid defensive game and Moore had the most confident display that I have seen from him this season.

I still can't help thinking that our current run of bad form started off with the uncertainty about Lee Shearer and his loan to Dover.

Has he gone for good or is he coming back does anyone know?

I have to say that although we did not play well the team showed a lot of character to come back from 2-0 down and I thought Manny was superb considering he was obviously carrying an injury and lets hope Macca injury is not serious we have the basis of a good squad just need everyone fit and on form, thought we missed Surey, Jackson and Essendoh tonight and agree I feel that Gledhill is far superior defender to Proths.

Team suggestion for Barnet assuming everyone fit

Wilko

Gledhill Moore MCCarthy Skinner

Drury Saunders Macca Surey

Essendoh Pinnock

I don't recall Farnborough threatening to 'run riot' and scythe through the defence, other than the two occasions they scored. As for Gravesend gamesmanship and dictating who was being booked, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Gary Holloway the main instigator of that?

A 'little' one-sided to say the least!

I too thought it was a straight red, but even if it wasn't it deserved to be and justice was done for that awful challenge.

We played some of the worst football I've seen us play at home so far this season for the first 30 mins or so. Everyone looked so asleep and not at all confident about getting anything from the game. Two silly goals to conceede but I thought Moore and McCarthy weren't too bad at the back together.

Moores goal came just at the right time for us and seemingly against the run of play. And its amazing just how much confidence that one goal installed in the team. We actually started playing football again!

Mannys equaliser came quite deservedly imo after a much improved second half performance. However, we're still not performing anywhere near to where we were a few months ago. Missed Essandoh and Surey greatly.

Thought Pullen pulled off some good saves, especially towards the end. Looks comfortable when taking the ball out the air and more than capable of getting himself in the way of shots. Second goal was a lot down to his mistake, the striker knocked it through his legs, but it was a bit of bad luck aswell.

It's all about grinding out a few results now. The boys have got to be fairly down by now and need a bit of luck and encouragement. I personally don't care how we do it, even if the ball goes in off the bloody linesman, I'll settle for that. Sadly, I see some of the 'Ford out' brigade have begun to crawl out of their vile little hovels and spurt their drivel out behind the goal again. I seem to recall, er, shall we say, chastising an individual last night after an anti-Ford outburst. I must stop drinking the winter warmer!! There was also a classic call of 'Keep it on the deck, Fleet' just as we were executing a five pass move......on the floor. Oh well, it's gonna be a long, hard winter....
