ETFC Songs

I bought an old mate along to the WA v ETFC on Sat, a mate who i travelled all over england to watch efc games in the previous century (the later part of it) and this was his 1st ETFC game ever due to uni and other stuff. He made a very good point which i would like opinions on and maybe start some new songs off. Why do Towners sing songs refering to the word 'towners'why do the not want to sing enfield or enfield town. He also made the point of when he saw Afc Wimbledon last year that they sang old Wimbledon songs and didn't sing just 'afc' as it would sound a bit pony. I think singing with the word Enfield and Enfield Town should be heard more. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/whistling.gif" alt="" />

Enfield is another club. Enfield Town doesn't always fit into the song.

 

It's true that Manchester supporters sing "Manchester, Manchester" etc but both Manchester clubs have suffixes i.e. City or, err, dammit, the name of the other one escapes me for the moment. Therefore, Everton supporters don't sing "Liverpool" although that is their home city, as it would be taken to refer to the club of that name.

 

Similarly, if we sang about "Enfield" it would be confused with Enfield FC. We used to sing about there being only team in Enfield though.

Stone Cold - I am sure if you came up with a song the guys would sing it, going by their performance on Tusday night, they'll sing anything.

 

LS also had a side ways swipe at the songs a few weeks ago, but failed miserably to come up with any alternative.

 

If we sang songs on Sunday with "Enfield" in it, everyone would be confused!

Yeah but who would be confused if we sang Enfield at an ETFC match against Hullbridge or Bowers etc? Every one has come to watch ETFC i don't think anyone would have come to brimmo thinking that they were here to watch the outer london enfield.

Correct me if i'm wrong but i think we only sing 2 songs with the word Enfield in it these being 1 F in Enfield and 1 team in Enfield all other songs refer to the name Towners.

Enfield Town will sound nice if it was sung Enfield Town, Enfield Town, Enfield Town (clap clap)Enfield Town, Enfield Town, Enfield Towwnn,Enfield Town, Enfield Town, Enfield Town,(slight pause)Enfield Town, ENFIELD TOWN. I hope you can understand this song, all other teams sing it as we did in the EFC days - the town part.

ST- Surely the only ones who would be confused is the outer london enfield players who obviously are not used to anybody singing enfield songs.

I suggested quite a few songs.

Enfield Town is a Railway station but once again beats EFC.

How about, compo once put his hand in his wallet, all he pulled out was a washer and an old Enfield Town railway ticket, or words to that effect, answers on a postcard in large letters to , WEVE GOT A FENCE so we should be ok.
