Yeading's Warren To Host Newcastle

Just been confirmed on the BBC website that Newcastle will be playing at Yeading. Now it becomes interesting....

Will be interesting to hear what the ticket prices will be given they only get 3,500 in there, although how they'll segregate them, I'm not sure. Also, down the far end with the grass, wonder if anything will be done to that as about ten deep all at the same height won't exactly make good viewing.

Good luck to them though, and well done for pulling out the stops to get it hosted at Yeading.

Also whilst we are on the Subject i posted on the Yeading board an apology about the behaviour of some of our Chelslough 1 a season fans towards Delroy, and delroy himself replied, bless him..

Cheers Marcus, the note you sent in meant a lot to me. I was disappointed with what happened as I still have affection for Slough Town FC, but I know this incident was a one off, as I have never before been subjected to the abuse I received.

The banter between the rebel supporters and me has always been good, but for someone to shout such obscenities was a disgrace and felt concerned for the safety of the children who had to hear such words at a football match and also for myself as personal verbal attacks were made.

All the best for the rest of the season and I look forward to the return league fixture at the Warren.

Cheers Marcus

Shame he didnt have enough affectio for us to let a couple of last minute goals in, ho hum, at least we will win the trophy

Now the wounds are healing is anyone considering going to the Yeading v Toon game? If so, would supporting Yeading be in order, or would the "what might have been" factor make it too difficult?

Given the limited capacity, Rebels fans using stubs from 04/12 might be frowned upon as denying "genuine" Yeading fans the chance of attending the game. However, in light of their consistently poor attendances, would supporters of Ryman League football in general be more appropriate recipients of these tickets than those who live near in Yeading yet have never attended a game, and who, one this one accasion fancy walking down the road to see Shearer, Kluivert and co, never to return?

I guess this translates as "Should Yeading FC expect to draw more "regulars" from this tie?". However, if winning one promotion followed by another season of championship winning form hasn't boosted attendances significantly, then is that a realistic expectation anyway?

The true Yeading fans, all 120 odd of them, will get tickets. I would be quite annoyed if people went to watch Yeading given that Slough have a match that day over in Braintree. They would be of similar vain to the Hayes fans on Saturday who were there supporting Yeading.

If of course the Braintree match was postponed, then I'd consider going along and supporting Yeading. Given Fat Freddie Shepherd comments recently about the Premiership retaining all of the money and the rest can go jump, I think there will be a lot of support for Yeading.

As for boosting their average, given where the club is situated, there's little hope of it. They have a very good manager who has built a very good team, but they must be disappointed to only get 120 people for home matches. I would think this run would enable a few players to be put in the shop window and snapped up, which would of course benefit us as it would make Yeading weaker for their league campaign.

But then you lose the romance.

The new rules meant it would not financially benefit Yeading to change venue. Their best chance of a mega shock or a draw for a lucrative replay is to play it at The Warren. You can also guarantee they will be live on TV now. Which means more lucra.

Lost a lot of respect for the Beeb after the Walsall debacle. All that effort for 5 minutes of highlights. Fair play to Yeading they deserve it.

Martin they still gave you money right? And you got treated better than any other team. Premiership games would of got more viewers as there would be more supporters of those clubs. So why knock the bbc?

Wanting higher ratings? Deary me!

Knock the Beeb because we went to a lot of trouble to get the match staged and set up right for them and then they shunt the highlights to a late slot with little insight into what went on. The coverage was also littered with mistakes. If they did not want to show it they could have left highlights to ITV or Sky who may well have done it better. Particularly ITV who have nothing else to show. The one Sky camera at the game against Salisbury ended up telling you more about our club.

But we did get money and for that I am grateful. Can't imagine that many licence payers thought it was worthwhile though.

Non-league fans have been spoiled when bbc had only the FA Cup. I'd of liked an FA Cup speical on the sunday or at least highlights on Score interactive but oh well.

BTW I cannot wait to watch the Yeading game in the clubhouse on the 8th!
