--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For all you regulars out there im sure you will have read my firm believe that we should sign another striker with league experience, especially with the hectic Xmas period being so crucial to our play off hopes.

I mentioned on numerous occassions that Greg Pearson a 19yr old striker at West Ham would be an ideal candidate.

So I am pleased to announce that Greg Pearson has today signed on a loan deal with a New Conference Team promoted last season that begins with C!!!!!!

Any guesses who that team maybe!! Has FV been reading my posts!!!

Well alas not.....

He has signed for Canvey.

Be interesting to see how he gets on. And remember who mentioned his name first!!

His name seems to have spread beyond the East End.

I wonder if Braniff and Pearson see (will see) the difference in playing league or reserve league football compared to Conference football?

Kingy touched on something and commented on the radio during the after match interview regarding Braniff - he said something to the effect that "he's a young lad who has set his sights a lot higher up and will hopefully be able to help us out during his loan spell" He then also hinted at, what we now know, was Pearsons arrival.

Presume then Braniff or King are not looking at a long term arrangement and wonder if Pearson is in a simlar boat.

They have their sites set at playing in a much higher league and I would imagine are not interested in dropping into part time football Conference stylee.

Heres a controversial question and I'm not commenting on Braniff or Pearson in particular and all players are naturally competitive - but, do you think we will get the best out of a couple of young lads who have dropped down to "grass roots" football for only a month?

Good point, but if I was young and starting out like them, all I would want to do is impress and get well known. Because they have not gone into first team football at higher level clubs, they haven’t achieved their aim so should realise they have to work at it to get there in the end. Only playing to the best of their ability can only aid future progression in this career, I would of thought.

they are probably very competetive people and always want to do their best, they will also know that this is a stepping stone and that they will be watched by other teams,

if there is a good team spirit the player will want to do the best for the team

the plus side for loan players or any players at conf national level is that if they do atart banging the goals in they do get mentioned on sky and in the papers.. ok its only a passing reference but its still a mention and must still get noticed by other bigger clubs.. so for goal scorers at least it is worth their while slotting 7 or 8 in the four or five games they are here.... please... each
