Has anyone got any info on Helen Love ? I've only ever heard their name as they are the lead singer from Art Brut's favourite band.

I also see that they are EFMTFTV's favourite British Group.

I've never heard anything by them so if anyone know's of any sites I could download a track from that would be good.

Cheers

Actually I heard Helen Love for the first time on a Rough Trade album in August so popped over to www.helenlove.com and on the message board was one Eddie Argos, I brought a Helen Love album off e-bay and mentioned it to Eddie when we had one of our regular chats.

At no point, as far as I'm aware, has he ever called them his favorite band, just that he loves them.

Hope that clears this up, you couple of pisstaking bastards <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

You obviously don't listen much, I only heard Art Brut for the first time in August and Helen Love's album was brought in September and gertcha has heard it because I played him it on the tube on the way home from Clapham.

Jim is a solo artist.

Didn't realise you had to of spent the entire year liking a band for it to be Number 1, god help you if a better band than The Charlatans come to your attention between now and 31/12

Is that Helen Love who did "Did your heart go Boom?" at the end of the 90s?. If so I've got one of their albums. They're a bit of a pop punk band. Sound abit like Shampoo sometimes. I bought it because I love Happy Hardore and they did a couple of tracks in that style. All a bit cheesy though.

Mate, I respect your opinion, goddammit! If you say Helen Love are better than Art Brut, then who am I to argue. I am no expert on either!

I found the Best British Band category very hard. I haven't bought many albums this year, and the only one I could think of by a Brit band was the Charlatans one - and very good it is too. That's what won them the coveted Zeal!

Let's face it, neither of us were about to pick Snow Patrol, Franz Ferdinand or Keane!!

Carter and Inspirals haven't done anything this year, so would be hard to justify them as being Best Band 2004.

To be honest the only time you've mentioned Helen Love to me is when you were talking about Eddie Argos being 44th coolest in an NME poll and his response was I can't be cool because I like Helen Love.

I thought you might have at least mentioned them to me or played me a track or two.

Still, everyone has their own opinions on music, and I do value yours, as if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have gone to watch JSSW. (and then seen the other related bands over the years.)

YB941 5thD EFM ~soul~, you can have a lend of it, but as you say I have a feeling it'll be in my cd player for quite some time.

edited to add I was pissed on the way back from Clapham. Can't remember it.

You know where I'm getting at now then Zeal, I haven't got the Charlatans album tho'.

Zag - It is that Helen Love and that's the album I have. "Does your heart go boooom" and "Happy Hardcore" are on there.

I wouldn't say they were cheesy but I can see where your coming from, I compare them to the likes of Bis and Dweeb

Your pissed most the time I see you so you probably don't rememeber half the stuff/bands I mention. I mean you listened to about 6 tracks and said they sounded a bit like Bis and they were well good. Maybe they'll be your top band of 2005.
I also mentioned that Argos said he liked David Deviant in that article but he hasn't sprung up to number 2.
That article was 2 weeks ago and I was raving about them to you a couple of months ago.

Anyway, I'm waiting for the gertcha awards
