Right Martin, we have never knocked a league side out of the F.A. Cup. From memory - like you I can't consult the relevant reference works as I would look a travesty of a man carrying a full run of Non League Yearbooks into the office - we've drawn with Torquay (we equalised in the last minute), losing the replay 0-3, lost 1-2 at Gillingham, 2-7 at Wimbledon and 0-7 at Brentford. So Slough have the upper hand there. The Bournemouth game was I think the year when Windsor got promoted to the Isthmian Prem.

We are still here.

I remember hearing about the Windsor vs Bournemouth game and also Harry's quote. A fine result. Particularly for an Isthmian Division three side or were you on one of your periodic sorties into the upper echelons of the Isthmian?

Just curious, but have you ever knocked out a football league side? I honestly don't know and I cannot be bothered to properly consider your history.

WEFC FA Cup vs league opposition:

P8 W0 D2 L6

Only 2 of the 8 games were at Stag Meadow (both draws)

Best period 1980 to 1986: Five times to at least 1st round proper in 6 seasons, 4 times in successive seasons 82/83 to 85/86.

The Bournemouth game was as an Isthmian Div 1 side, WEFC finished champions the same season, and were to remain an Isthmian Premier team for the next 9 seasons.

Hope this satisfies your curiosity.

so you never got to the Conference then?

If 'you' means WEFC, and 'got to' means played in, then no, they have not played in the Conference. However, if 'you' means me, and 'got to' means attended, then yes, I have attended many Conferences.

So Stag Meadow is a bit of an FA Cup fortress then against league opposition. We have obviously played one and won one and WEFC are unbeaten. If Yeading had decided to switch perhaps they should have been looking at your place.

Martin- It's the amazing atmosphere that gives the home team the advantage!

Who's coming to the Heybridge game early so we can watch Yeading vs Newcastle on the telly? I will be!
