...In the Daily telegraph sports section, under the headline "Newcastle Thrown To The Underdogs" there is a quote from the Yeading Chairman...

"This is a club where all the players know the supporters by their first names"...

Not difficult with a home support of around 70!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

This is just the kind of draw that Yeading needed, maybe they'll get a few more for their games now, and they can use the money to improve the ground and get in a decent burger van, and entice people into coming and watching Yeading

I have been told that they have gone to The Sun newspaper to start a campaign have the game played at Newcastle. Newcastle have said that, if this happens, they will donate their gate reciepts to the club to ensure their survival.

Yeading have gone on record and said that £500k will ensure the survival of the club for 10 years.

...Perhaps they should concentrate their efforts in ecouraging people to come along and support the club?

Wasn't the Sun amongst the critics when Farnborough switched their match with Arsenal to Highbury?

My reading of the rules is that they can't switch the game to Newcastle...

Section 9(vi) reads...

Ties switched from the ground of the Club first drawn to the ground of the Club second drawn then the receipts will be calculated as if played on the ground of the Club first drawn with any excess receipts paid into the Pool.

(The pool is a fund held by The Association which shall be divided at the completion of the Competition amongst all FA Premier League and Football League Clubs which participated in the Competition. The 5% payment to The Association for replayed matches in the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Rounds of the Competition Proper shall be divided at the completion of the Competition amongst all the Clubs outside the FA Premier League and The Football League playing in the First Round of the Competition Proper.)

Section 9 (viii) reads

If a tie is required to be switched due to safety considerations then the first alternative ground shall be the nearest suitable ground subject to the agreement of The Association.

So a local switch seems likely if (as is likely) the Yeading ground is deemed unsuitable to host the game on safety grounds.

I have to say I think the best thing they could do would be play it at Yeading, even if they miss out on a cash windfall, they would have a much better chance of attracting fans who would stay with the club. Play it at somewhere like QPR and all you'll get is interested neutrals who are unlikely to feel any affinity with yeading beyond a hope that the underdog does well.

IMO Yeading wants to mug the Geordies.

A quick trip up "ta Nucastle", mug em for 500k and laugh all the way back.

And this 500k that would secure their future for ten years? What about the board who support them finanancilly now? Will they continue to put in the same if they got the 500?

If they didn’t, does that mean the winnings will end up benefiting them?

Anyway I was led to believe they were financially stable, and the players played for the love of the club.

Why don't they fight to stage it their own ground?

And before anyone says it sour grapes, no it isn’t, good luck to the other Perryman, Exeter were drawn away, and that’s where it should be played.

Yeading were drawn at home.

I'm sure most clubs would love to have drawn the Geordies at home; It's a dream draw.

A touch of greed by the board maybe?

100pw you must be joking.... When we had him on loan from Stevenage he said he wanted 350pw (net) which is a lot of money, especially since he had failed to turn up for training on a couple of occasions (if memory serves he also failed to turn up for a reserve game he was supposed to have played in). Rumour has it Stevenage wanted rid of him for much the same reason.

Decent player though, and it would seem the kick up the backside his departure from us and Stevenage gave him has helped him get his head straight...

Looks like Yeading have decided to play the Newcastle match at a larger ground after all. If you ask me this is a mistake because the advantage they would have had of having the millionaire premiership players having to play at a tight ground with a poor pitch will almost be lost. I'd like to think that when Ricay get in a similar situation we would be proud of who we are and where we came from - unlike what appears to be happening.
