WAKE UP CALL FOR ALL MARGATE FANS!

HI ALL,

I have attended 99% of Margate Games this Season, and I think its time to state that we are about as far from the conferance at the moment as we will ever be.

This post is not to criticise players, staff, board members or even other fans, I just felt it was time to post and set a few things straight, I hope my views and oppinions can be appreciated and are not replied to in a deregotary manner by other forum users.

Firstly, whilst I recognise that some players are very committed, they lack the ability that we need to win games, when we get back to Hartsdown we will need to have a major clearout, as for how many of the "current" squad that will continue to play in the blue shirt when we return home, I will leave for you to consider.

Secondly, Take todays performance for example, we would need to play "average" (like today) and still grind out a win (unlike today), this "ingrediant" will be essential if we are to ever return to the conferance(Which I am sure we will).

Thirdly, I know this is a small gripe, but I feel its a mjor issue, the "commercial" department of this club are commiting suicide on a regular basis, YOU CANT EVEN GET A MARGATE SHIRT EASILY!!! I dont want to wait weeks and weeks to get a shirt, Its basic Marketing and Retail principles, you cant sell a product if you dont have it!!!

We have won "twice" on the road this season (League), this will need to be addressed if we ever want to leave this league, I WANT and the club NEEDS "Maidenhead Away" every week, those fans that went will know exactly what I mean.

And finally, EVERYONE, AND I MEAN EVERYONE (YOU AS WELL ;-) ) needs to get behind the team over the next few months, ITS TIME TO REALISE THAT UNLESS RESULTS IMPROVE WE ARE FACING A RELEGATION BATTLE!!!!! IF WE WERE TO LEAVE THIS LEAGUE IT WOULD BE A DISASTER OF A MASSIVE MAGNITUDE!!!

We must get 3 Points on Tuesday, so that we can build from there, CMON THE GATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for listening, and I hope my views are welcome.

ok, ok, I will accept that my comment on relegation may be overkill, however, we must be aware that it COULD happen, I think we are arrogant and foolish if we dont consider this a factor (if only a slim one)

We have to take some points over the next few weeks, so that we can go into the tough festive/new year period with a bit of confidence (both supporters and players) behind us!

Some very big clubs now play football in the Championship, Nothing is ever certain in Football, and I will bet on that!

Lets hope we can get some points and start next season back at Hartsdown park in our current league!

Avoiding relegation is a sure thing.

Says the Leeds Fan, the Coventry Fan, the Sunderland Fan, need i continue?

Whilst I respect your presence on these forums cookie, please dont be so complacent, We have won just twice away in the league and failed to take points at home (when we could have, and should have)

I agree it is slim chance, but lets not overlook it.....

Relegation will not happen. Crikey how many more times does it have to be said. There are other teams worse than us that are dropping points also that are below us. The bet on this NOT happening is a mortgage job believe me. Not often that I'm right but in this instance I am. No-one hates to count chickens etc more than I do but this is one thing I am certain of. We will finish mid table or better. Thanks anyway for your kind comments otherwise. Still, you are entitled to your opinions. Nuff said.

As for thursday, well thats something I'M definately NOT counting my chickens on despite my recent positive attitude.

Just pointing out, We are 7 points off the relegation zone, thats not a very convincing safety barrier.....but lets end this conversation, and let the season the results do the talking.

I hope you are correct cookie, i really do.

I dont think we should be talking of relegation,as Cookie says we are not that bad, but, the way we played today I do belive if we want to hump the ball from defence to attack we need Watson up there as a target man, playing alongside Che,with Rocky playing just behind, our midfield is just not strong enough to play the ball through, saying that I think we were unlucky today not to share the points, but when have we ever beaten a Gary Hill side.

I am not sure starting with him would be the answer, TM, as I would not want to dispense with our formost two strikers, but I think in games such as today's the writing is on the wall by half-time and an earlier substitution could be more beneficial than leaving things as they are until 15-20 minutes to go.

look we got the results away last season i think it was win 7 drew 6 lost 8 playing in front of 2,000 somtimes 3,ooo spectaters and they never let the traveling fans down once, take this season what is the most at away games 300 at home 250 that to me is the answer to the performences give them a big stage and they will perform but cant see more than 300 at hartsdown when or if they return there.

Silly boy/girl ! Agree that the players tend to play better when there's a big crowd but as for getting 200/300 back at hartsdown, well thats just silly. We have a large fan base here and you shouldn't judge home attendances by attendances away at dover or ashford. There are many here that will find it ten times easier to get to hartsdown and even those that don't normally go will venture down there, especially if nothing else is going on locally or on t.v. Obviously the better the league, the higher up the table, the better the football we play, will determine the crowd figure but as it stands now am positive the crowds will be at the least, 700 plus. That will be a good start back home in this league. Into the Conference and the 1500 plus will be achieved.

quote: [color:"red"]the top game in kent yesterday and we get 270

[color:"blue"]You just don't get it do you? We're getting an average gate of over 200, but are playing an hour's drive away from our catchment area. We also take between 50 and 100 to away matches (minimum 50mile journey) - for a Club that as few as five years ago averaged little more than 250 for a home game in our catchment area, this is a great achievement. Now if we were at Hartsdown and getting gates like those of Redbridge (under 100 yesterday) then there'd be cause to moan.

Some people have to knock everything.

40 odd hornchurch the rest us, as few neutrals turn up. Thats good cos i've stood at Hartsdown in the last 5 years with only 180 around me. Those who go are really the die hards. All credit to them. For us exiles its probably nearer than coming from Thanet. Tuesdays gate will be thin i know cos lots of my friends cant go. Do hope it tops 100.
