Margate vs. Hornchurch

It wasn't that bad.Trying to play TOO much football sometimes can be our undoing and that was the case. Gotta be more positive and direct in and around the box. Defence did well all but for one mistaken header which lead to the goal. We played better in second half and a draw would have been just reward. Had enough chances to have even things up.To sum up the afternoon I would say "Frustrating".

Perhaps they put something in the beer and I was hallucinating because I thought it was an excellent match between two sides that were very evenly matched. The opposition had the rub of the green in that their ball that hit the post went in and ours did not, but we had our chances, and plenty of them against a very solid defence. And our defence held them at bay pretty well too. There was not a single player I could say played badly, all of them played their rocks off.

Keister and Gradley were towering in midfield. Peter was stunning, had six shots on goal that I counted including one that was fairly brilliantly saved by their goalie, and to add insult to injury that time the lino 'didn't see' the save and gave a goal kick! (not the only dubious decision in the game by a long shot). Oates, Che, Rocky and Peter played some seriously wonderful moves between them, breathtaking footie. Peter Trago made some very good saves too, he could not have done anything about the one that rebounded in.

Did we think that Hornchurch would be a pushover as they have had bad luck? We weren't last year, under a similar cosh, we forget that they are second in the league and we gave them a huge run for their money. It was, as Cookie rightly says, frustrating that we could not find the net, a draw would have been a fair result, but I am not going to start sinking into gloom and doom, as this is undeserved.

We have a hill to climb but I am still firmly of the opinion that we will climb, and not sink.
