Just love your optimism but I would welcome just ONE team back there at the moment the FIRST TEAM!

Anything else can wait. Lets not assume we are over the winning line just yet. Wish I could be as optimistic as some of you. Am extremely hopeful though. Is that positive enough do you think?

12.5% of those local residents leafleted attended the presentation last night - if that is the ones that care either way and the rest are not motivated to do anything, it seems a reasonable percentage are not opposed to the development.

That's a reasonable ground for optimism.

The council's history of scuppering every hint of progress at the last knockings is still a worry.

I am hanging on in there with hope still, though.

I attended the meeting last night, most of the people that dont give a toss about MFC only asked about carparking problems, they seem to think that when the stadium is built it will be full every week, people who say I brought a house around here,ok the stadium was already here, but that dont matter, what they dont realize is that when the stadium is built it will be the best thing that has happened to Margate, football pitches to keep the kids off the streets, trees planted to obscure views. Why cant they see this is GOOD

If the parking was all they were really concerned about I cant see a problem. If I'm not mistaken the original plans included a large car park for (I think)200 cars. There will still be parking in Hartsdown Rd which has never caused any problems, and on the road on the other side of the ground (the name I can't remember. The railway station is a 5 minute walk from the ground, and opposite that the NCP car park at the bottom of the towerblock. If all goes well and we return to Hartsdown and the conference I can see us getting crowds of no more than two thousand for most matches and so I think the fears are misplaced, as one of the posts suggests, the locals believe it will be full every match.

The amount of space for cars is to be 153,it was told to us at the meeting, that is what the highways authority have requested, but some people were still moaning about gridlock. When Margate played the likes of Spurs and West Ham I dont remember any gridlock. There was one chap there that was worried about his yearly cross country race around HDP,claims there would not be enough room for it.

Tony-Just as important at the moment as the quality of our defence and midfield is the quality of the clubs professinal advisors.

Did they impress, look in control, repond accurately yet firmly, and win hearts and minds or was any presentation very amateurish

The presentation was far from amateurish, both the project coordinator Gerry Connolly and the architect John Creaney, both were impressive, looked very much in control and responded very accurately, showed all parts of the new stadium on screen and in detail.Spoke to Mr Connolly afterwards and he does not see any reason why this project should not go ahead. As for winning hearts and minds, most of the people there in my opinion dont want the stadium.
