New Fleet Site - Reporters Wanted

Hi Everyone

 

Ive recently taken over as main editor for Gravesend and Northfleet Mad site. It can be found at www.Fleet-Mad.co.uk. I was wondering if any of you can give me some opinions to improve the site and also to see if anyone is interested in writing match reports. Email me at Thegr81468@aol.com or let us know here.

Call me mad but surely you would be better of offering your help to webmeister Dave as he was asking at the end of the season.

And the site doesn't seem to be accessible anyway, as its coming up page not found on my system !!

 

So, first improvement - simply get the site working !!

 

But joking aside, I agree with the previous comment that you would be better to offer your help to Dave, our webmeister, rather than setting up a new, rival site.

 

Unless we have a mammoth increase in support for next season, anyway, there really aren't enough of us to support 2 sites.

When another fellow attempted an alternative site last season I got a bashing on the old board for stifling free enterprise with such comments Reevsie .

Dont know where that site is now though !!

Ok thanks for your comments - it is difficult running a fleet site due to the size of the club but its apart of the Fotty Mad network i work on for my Charlton site. Ive fixed the address now to www.gravesendandnorthfleet-mad.co.uk (bit long but i will shorten it).

I disagree with the others , and if you've got enough time, you should develop an alternative unofficial site. Competition won't do any harm.

 

Just one question Fleet mad Dave - Are you madder about the Fleet or Charlton ?

That's probably because "northfleet" was spelt wrong, I've edited the link and it should work now.

 

I have no problem with any number of unofficial sites being set up, provided that they are original works and the whoever is running them remembers that copyright laws apply to websites as well as everything else.

To answer your question i am more Charlton Mad - but i do love watching the Fleet as they are my home town. Lets hope they will do us proud this season in the conference.

hmm i seem to be geting alot of stick from this post - its not a crime to support a top team and your local team is it?

It looks good on the surface, but you certainly need to spend a while updating Current Players Info - there are several on there, who are no longer at the club ( Blewden has already been mentioned, but Spiller is another for a start) and you need to add first names for all players - having just Lye for instance, rather suggests you are not that Fleet mad.

Alsdo, it should be Steve McKimm rather than McKinn.

 

Finally, you need to run a spell check on the site overall - revealed, for instance, onm the front page is reveiled, and there are a couple of other obvious errors spelling wise, as well.

 

Finally, the message boards on the site dont seem to work ?? Again, this may be something you are yet to add to the site, but it will need resolving.

 

I dont mean to belittle your efforts and any additional coverage given to the club has generally got to be beneficial, as it potentially adds to the numbers coming through the gate and general awareness of the club, but it would be worth getting things tidied up somewhat, sooner rather than later.

 

And as I said earlier, are there enough of us to split between 2 websites ?

Thanks for letting us know - to be honest i have just taken it over and now i will try and sort these. As for player info i cant edit that at the moment so i get my bosses to sort it out. Does anyone know how i could get some pictures for the site?
