Midfielder Robinson has retired

 

Robinson won 30 international caps for Wales

Former Wales international midfielder John Robinson has announced his retirement at the age of 33.

Robinson had another month left on his contract at Gillingham, where he had struggled with a hamstring problem.

 

Gills chairman Paul Scally told his club's website: "John had injuries, and could have sat here for one more month and taken his wages.

 

"He thought it was wrong to take money from the club, so his contract has been cancelled but I respect his honesty."

 

Born in Zimbabwe, Robinson began his career with Brighton, before spending more than a decade at Charlton, where he made over 380 senior appearances.

 

He moved to Cardiff in 2003 and spent just over a season at Ninian Park before joining Gillingham in October - but was only able to start just two games for the Kent club.

 

He also scored three goals in 30 full appearances for Wales

Well Chilled Out Enty apart from your general stupidity ('Jackson is past it')and the usual insulting trash ('Troll' - you really know how to make people feel welcome, don't you) I for one dont agree.

If Hess ever became available i would love to see him at 'The Fleet'. Taking 'The Fleet' into the football league would be a fantasic way to end Hessy's career. Of course he may be 50 or so by then, or he could be a whole lot younger. It's unlikely but stranger things have happened.

Handbags away, please gentleman. I too saw the reserveslast night and saw some good players....for that level. Our no.10 was very good but a 6 foot 15 stone Conference-standard centre-half would put him through the back of the burger hut within seconds. Jacko offers us strength, guts, skill, pride and passion for his team, all good qualities in my book.
