My first Fleet season, 88-89, we beat Barnet and Kettering, then non-league's two top teams, on the way to going out at Macclesfield in Round 3. Much greater achievement then, as we had to win three qualifying rounds just to reach the First Round. Bognor, Barking and Bishops Stortford were our other victims as I recall.

Why would our season end in March, if the last game of the season away to Xiter is at the end of April?

The last match of the season is April 23 Home to NCBA.

The Stalybridge Celtic match did at least prove a couple of points....

 

1)Despite being top of the Rymans league at the time apart from Skins our players clearly weren't good enough against even a poor Conference side.

 

2)No matter how cold it gets ( it snowed during that match ) don't think you will be any warmer sitting in the wooden stand. I don't think I have ever been colder or more uncomfortable.

How comes that according to my fixtures we play exeter on the last day of the season.

 

The fixtures I seem to have for April are:

 

2nd: York Away

9th : Morecambe Home

16th: Stevenage Away

23rd: Burton Home

30th: Exeter Away.

 

whats changed then?

All of the matches originally scheduled for 30th April have been switched to Tuesday 19th April.

Did anyone else see the comments from the Eastbourne manager after the draw was made - something along the lines of "Gravesend are a big team. Should be in the Top 6 of the Conference". High praise indeed !!

to be honest we have come along way in a short time but the better the opposition the better we seem to play, should be a good test on how far we have come.
