I spoke to Mick Schultz (safety officer at stanley) after the match and he was full of praise for the Canvey supporters.

Well-behaved, friendly, very easy to deal with and willing to follow all the recommendations of the stewards. An absolute pleasure to have with us, in fact.

 

 

That was my experience of you, too. A very good-natured lot.

 

Mick asked me to mention it this evening because he was so impressed with them and he considers them our best visitors so far this season.

 

I suppose you could call these Islanders "Treasures" ! (Groan . . . .)

Just got back. Thanks for the message - could we have a letter of reference for the Exeter stewards? I can't remember them feeling the same way <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

 

Think we do have a fair number who travel when related to the size of our club.

 

Not a classic game, but nice not being segregated etc.

 

First trip to Accrington and got myself a souvenir mug - only disappointment apart from the result - I didn't get to taste one of the pies!

 

Are they as tasty as they look?

 

As for the Accrington ground - I found it quite good. Floodlights could have been a bit better. Not sure what any of the other Canvey fans felt but the main stand was about the right size - didn't look stupidly disproportionate like Woking. Could have done with another one the other side and possibly cover over the end terracing and I think you have a realistic sized ground for the Conf.

Came across a bit wrong - wasn't knocking the Accrington ground - or otherwise.

 

What I meant to put across in my own twisted way was some of the good points that could possibly benefit a new Canvey ground <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/doah.gif" alt="" />

We have only been in the conference one season more than you and its our highest ever position so a new stand aint gonna spring up that quick <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

 

Our floodlights are very poor. I take a lot of pics at night matches (different grounds) and your right about ours.

I was just taking a look at the pics before you posted the link in another thread.

 

They are very good and capture the day well. Particularly our best chance which can be seen sailing over the wall <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

 

Canvey are moving forward in trying to get a new ground - if you get a chance to pop down to Park Lane for your away leg then you will understand why.

 

I wasn't inferring that Accrington needed a new stand or any other form of improvement. Just felt the size of the ground and the main stand was about right for the size of crowd etc. and this would also suit Canvey who have one of the lower attendance figures in the Conf. Nothing worse than going to a large ground with a few fans dotted around.
