Today-rubbish result/good performance

Brief report.

 

Unlucky not to get at least share of points.

 

Best conf. south game i've seen, and best Margate performance;(mainly seen away games)so really disappointing to lose to another late goal.

 

Basingstoke had best of first 20 mins and scored with long range deflected shot.

Margate marginally better side for rest of half.

Che stabbed one against the post.

 

Margate started strong in second half and from a long clearance from Ross Smith ,Rocky beat a couple of men ,turned ,stalled and beat the keeper-excellently taken goal.

Margate marginally better side in a game that flowed end to end but few real chances.

 

Both sides had number of corners but never threatend until late on about 84 th minute when their centre forward was left unmarked at far post.

First real defensive lapse so very disappointing. I think because defence had comfortably dealt with all other corners they got complacent/tired after an end to end game.

 

All the side played well.We looked a decent and proper team.

Midfield looked good.

Clarke back to his best in second half.

Oates looked fit at last and they did not threaten on the left because of his extra presence.

 

Rocky had a superb game-not just cos of the goal.Worked hard and never misplaced a pass.

Benevides had a good game and looked a proper midfield player-cut out the errors today.

Smith looked strong esp. in second half-even overlapping on left wing-total football !!!

 

I thought a good game, good performance and so massively disappointing to lose,but must take some credit from the performance.

 

Now i wonder if others saw it differently

Meant to add hat Darren W was conspicuous by his abscence.

He was missed as CK had no real other options, and Basingstoke were not a big side, so DW may have nicked one.

 

Was Che fit as he was slightly subdued/flat today, but guess even he can't score every match.

 

But again imo credit for an all round good performance from everyone

Agree with that....Margate done very well and deserved at least a point, some good singing by the gate fans (some very humorous comments)

 

I felt we deserved a point, if not more.....all the team were good......Trego at fault for first goal?? (Apparentely he was well off his line) - I cant say cos I was at the other end - but some of the Gate Hardcore led me to believe this.

 

All in all, a good battling performance, the sort of performance that will get us out of this league once we get back to hartsdown.

 

All in all, more plus points than bad points.

 

Oh and the teahut was crap.....the Tea was like Diesel.

Was walking round the ground and was right behind when goal went in.

Shot took a slight deflection.

 

Another two inches and he would have got to it.Got fingertips to it anyway

Wasn't there so can't comment on the game but its refreshing to hear all the good remarks about today. Maybe some of that consistency is now bedding in. Good also to hear that Rocky is putting himself about a little more. Sounds like he scored a good goal. Well done to him and well done to the team.

Apparently a good performance. Although winning is the name of the game sometimes,if not all the time good performances can be more pleasing. A bit of both and we've cracked it.
