As a new dad and having knowledge of babies etc, I don't have any. I wonder if you know the answers to some questions I have posed in the pub forum.

Copied below.

----------------------------------------

One of my sisters is expecting twins in late January, about 25th. She has had children before no problems. She has been told that one of the twins has stopped growing, the dr has told her that if it does not grow by next week, she will be forced to give birth to one of the children early, some 6 weeks early.

Hopefully someone has the knowledge to answer the following questions.

As a concerned brother,

How does that work then, can they pull one baby out and leave the other?

What effects will it have on a baby being born some 6 weeks premature? Incubater / full recovery etc, etc?

Serious answers only please.

---------------------------------

Thanks YB.

Mark.

A lot of twins are born as early as 34 weeks, simply because there is no space in the womb for them to continue growing. Six weeks early is nothing to be too worried about, as even at 29 weeks we were told there was a 95% chance of survival.

As for taking one twin out and not the other, well, I'm no doctor

and I can't say it's anything I've ever heard of. However, these doctors/surgeons are fking miracle workers mate, and they'll know exactly what they're doing.
