mainly just to help Charlie (As shes been asked to write about her first ever Slough game) I was wondering what was the first game for everyone else here? What made it memorable, why did you come back? Etc... My first Slough game was @ Wexham against Kettering, we got Blitzed 3-0 and didnt have a chance.... It was 1990 (Had to check to first out it was September 11th!!!) And i was but a little snip of 12 yrs old, I went with some School mates and we sat in the stands (The only time i ever went in the stands) If i remember the team was Tommy Langley, Neil Stanley and co....

Like you Marcus, I was a child of the Conference era. My first game came on New Years Day 1991 and a home match against Sutton United which the Rebel duly lost. I went with my sisters boyfriend and loved the fact that he and his mates swore lots - no clear influence there then <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Maybe not - I remember my first game, but not the opponents unfortunately. I do however remember it was courtesy of free school tickets, and I was in the stand. So I guess I'm a good example of free school tickets being a good investment for the future 'cos I've come back since !

I only really started going regularly in 1997/98, and the first game I can vividly remember is Slough 3-0 Hereford, with Hereford freshly relegated from the League.

My story with Slough Town should be interesting.

In 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait. During the invasion, I was in London with my family on a holiday. So during the whole 1990/91 season I lived in London. After watching some FA cup highlights of previous seasons, Me and my brother got intereted with games including non-league sides with leagues sides specially when non-league sides knock them out.

I remember Sutton United knocking out Coventry in 1989/90 I guess. So we got interested in travelling to Sutton United FC which we did. From that we went to a lot of non-league games including friendies against league sides.

My first visit to Slough Town was in August 1990 when they hosted Southampton. Unfortunately, the rebels lost 8-1. I remember Slough had just got promoted to the GM Vauxhall Conference that time. During the season, we went to around 4-5 games for Slough. The following seasons when we used to come to London in summer, we went to some Slough games. What made it easy was that it only took 30 minutes from Paddington to travel to Slough and our flat (we still have it) is close to Paddington Station.

Hope it wasn't aboring story lol.

In April 1995 away to Bromley. I had been planning to make a trip to England to see Slough play. I started to follow them in 1992 when I found about them in the football magazine Shoot.

I went with an american exchange student who was about 0 % interested in football. The first thing we did when we came to London was to jump on the train to Bromley. Slough drew 1-1 infront of 400+. Before the game I was invited by the manager to meet the players in the dressing room.

3 days later I went to see Slough at Harrow (without the american exchange student, he had enough). Slough won 3-0. After the game I went to the bar and meet my coming friends Tony, Wayne, Cliff and Richard.

I've asked Charlie to write an article about her first Slough Town match for the matchday programme.

As a few of you have briefly written about your 1st time (match that is!!!) are any of you interested in writing a page's worth (about 500 words) for inclusion in the Dover Athletic prog? If you are e-mail me: glenriley77@aol.com or programme@sloughtownfc.net

Thanks, Glen

Let's see. 1994 FA Cup against Torquay Utd. Lost 2-0, and I thought that our loan signing Robbie Peters was awesome, although that was in the eyes of a 15 year old.

Starting attending regularly around the same time Mr Deaner joined the club and have been home and away for the majority since 99/00 season.

I'm afraid the exact date slips my mind (criminal I know) but my first game was the cup replay vs Orient many years ago.

It was possibly the only time my mum has ever been to an adult game as both parents attended along with my brother and two sisters!

Interesting footnote: my then Headmaster was team manager - Howard Kennedy of course!

My first game was in the fa cup a couple of years ago against a.f.c Totton in a replay. we won 2-0 and i remember that tony boot was out to impress and certainly did. Since then i have been back to every home game that season and last season i went to every home game and some away games. This season i have been to all the games in midweek and sunday and the walsall match but this is because i work on a saturday but i will be back after college when i get a proper job and hopefully i can get more involved with the club other than spectating i.e. join the supporters trust and sponsor players etc but until then im waiting for each midweek game to come round which brings a highlight to my week.

I can't remember the score but my first game was at home to Boston United in the 1990/91 season, I was only six but I do remember being taken by my dad and my uncle, the highlight was losing my first tooth chewing on a half-time burger, I don't know what that says about the quality of the football.

My first was the game in which we lifted the Premier league trophy - last game of the season 89/90. Can't remember who it was against but we won and I think Tommy Langley scored. I remeber getting home and my dad remarking that "he never managed that for Chelsea"!

My first game was way back in the late 80s, early 90s, I forget the exact details, but we played Poole in some Cup game and either won or lost 5-4. They hadn't even built the Mars Clock Golf End at Wexham Park.

I saw a few League matches intermittently before I started watching regularly in the season where we played Kettering first and won 3-0 with goals from Andy Sayer (2) and Paul McKinnon. Glory days.

I first went to Wexham Park to see Slough Youth team play Liverpool youth in the youth cup semi final, in front of i think eight thousand people!

Became a regular when i was 12 and bought a season ticket for £12 but can't remember my first proper game. My first away game was Carshalton in the FA Cup but then that's another thread (my mum said she asked Chris Silski to look after me and my mate). Still, hooked for over 25 years (with some gaps when i lost interest)

My first game was away to Bognor in the FA Cup. Couldn't get into Slough area, so stood in pouring rain with Bognor mob. My over riding memory of the game was the rain and the crowd making monkey noises every time Dodds got the ball. (ironic, in light of current goings on.) Must have been about 1986 I guess as I was living in Bognor at the time.
