Last night's game

This was very disappointing. Definitely two points lost rather than one gained. The first half was probably the best 45 minutes City have played all season. Bastock, in goal, looked the business. The team were working for each other, winning the midfield and the movement on and off the ball was excellent. We were playing it on the ground and virtually slicing through their defence at will. 1-0 up after 5 minutes and but for two glaring misses by Parker just before half time, we would have gone in 3 up and it would have been fully deserved.

The second half? Where do you start? Hornchurch came at us, as we knew they would and the whole game changed. We resorted to the long ball and it all started going to pot. We became ragged and the movement shown in the first half totally evaporated. The indiscipline reared it's ugly head again, especially from Clarke and Hooper. All too reminiscent of the Castle era. Dissent is always unacceptable but for it to occur twice with one player is simply inexcusable. In the end, we could so easily have finished with no points.

Judging from the first half performance, there are signs that we are starting to move in the right direction. Let's do it for 90 minutes on Saturday and not just 45.

I was there last night Woody and I would echo those views. [in the]first half we played some very 'pretty' football indeed in the final third of the field but the final ball into the box probably let us down and limited the clear chances.

[in the] second half, it all changed and we weren't happy at all when they came at us. A strange game.

Very poor travelling support. 40 or so?

Throughout the game, Bastock looked as though he has done this before and without having to make a 'world-class save', he dealt very efficiently with a number of situations.

I thought that the Urchins were poor last night.

The indiscipline is of concern, certainly. It's a football thing, presumably.

Oh, by the way. I hear a rumour that Dean Hooper has asked to come off the transfer list and is to stay.
