What is the most useless Cup Comp / game

 

I will offer up the Middx Challenge Cup or whatever its called The Middex Charity Cup winners v the Middx Senior Cup winners (whats it all about)

 

Trophy winners v the Vase winners (oops already doing that) another useless Cup

Why would anyone want to put their players through such a competitive game close to the start of the season, I feel the same about the Charity Shield it should be at the end of the season.

 

All clubs use the pre season to get players fit and ready for a season of football, playing pre-season build players up for a season of football, playing these game it no use to anyone

My remark to F. Bird was light hearted banter as he is a well-known Enfield supporter and of course EFC are not participating in the competition in question.

 

The FA Charity Shield is regarded as the traditional curtain raiser for the new season, and whets everyone's appetite for the forthcoming campaign. Presumably the Middlesex equivalent is intended to be a similar showcase event. I imagine that it would in any case be difficult to arrange the fixture at short notice in late May.

 

I do agree that the Inter Toto is a complete farce - I would be embarrassed to win it.

 

I also nominate the League Cup, or Littlewoods or whatever they call it now. Why on earth do we need a meaninglesss second cup competition? It is even more outrageous that it carries a UEFA Cup place.

 

Finally, given the pleasure to be had from non-league football and the luntaic sums of money being bandied about in the professional game (29 mil for Rio? How many Nationwide or non-league clubs could survive for a season on that!) I suggest that the Premiership is fast becoming a useless League competition!

I would nominate the Essex Senior Cup, probably most County Cups would be similar. Currently it is almost a foregone conclusion that the winner will be Canvey or Dredbridge, the remainder of clubs merely making up the numbers. In the days of the Esssex Professional Cup for the "elite" clubs, the rest of the Essex clubs had a much fairer chance of winning a pot.

Well the Kent Senior cup is always good to win i think, we have won it 3 years in a row, andthe final always makes a good day out! Last season we all got a trip to the seaside on the Margate coast! 5-0 to the reds!!

Has to be the 'Full Members Cup'. Discontinued now and ashame really, considering the amount of League teams that have won it in the past. It fell out of favour and it was left to the non-league clubs, who found it was one cup to many as well.

 

Oh! And Gravesend are, at present the holders of that as well, (season of 2000/2001).

I disagree. Why spend your pre-season playing meaningless friendlys when you could get back into competitve football with the goal of a place in Europe beckoning.
