Jimmy
Does he turn to his right before or after he gives the ball away? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/whistling.gif" alt="" />
Fleetbabe
Umm..... when he comes away from a defender with the ball Jimmy, for your information! And besides, he's not the only player who gives the ball away, is he? It might just be a complex, he turns away to his right coz that's what he's learnt to do, and its psychological. (more a level p.e!)

KShep
Our problem is in defence, we concede a goal, then don't play to our potential coz were rushing to play catch-up, we might produce some good stuff (carlisle etc) but its not our best. even though we dont really know who our best 2 centrebacks are this year, we should stick with 2 for a few games, regardless of whether theyre the best in the team or not, and build some kind of defensive stability. Were less likely to concede, so we can play our best football! Who started in goal at tamworth?

Big word for you Mr Holden!! You're all calling for him to be consistent, well I've watched him quite closely during the past 3 games Hornchurch, Carlisle and Tamworth and he's rarely given the ball away. If you all want to watch robots then perhaps he's playing for the wrong club. Same with Moore, he's still being heavily criticised, but actually I think he's played quite well recently, including the Carlisle game, when for a lot of time he had to cover for other players out of position. Fleetbabe
Robots, they wouldn't be as affective would they? Does it matter how he gives the ball away when he rarely does? As far as I'm concerned, he's improved over the last few games, and he's not the only one who likes to take a run at the defenders and then not beat them is he? He's a quality player for a 20 year old (21 on Sunday mind you!) and as I said before, he'll go a long way in the game.

Fleetbabe
Oh yeah, that was a fantasticly unlucky shot, it should have easily gone in. Thats the thing, he can beat defenders, but when people criticise him, 1) he loses his confidence, 2) his head drops and 3) he gives the ball away. FleetFanatic
You're missing the point. Yes - it's great when he does that. The question is, should he be trying to do it every single time that he has the ball? Even the great players on the world stage don't every time. Sometimes the deft touch, the sublime pass would be the preferable option.
Fleetbabe
No ok, maybe he shouldn't be doing it every time, but when he does do it, and keep the ball, he's magic. I agree that he should lay the ball off a bit more, but he doesn't always have the support to lay it off to, does he? then what's he expected to do? I think there is where the fans frustration comes in , as they can see the easy ball but when it doesnt come they get annoyed/disappointed. And befor you start fleetbabe, i am not having a go at drury, imo he should start every game, but he is inexperienced and the likes of macca, skins etc should take him under their wing and help him improve his all round game with their knowledge gained over many years. Fleetbabe
Fair point, if he feels that he can take on another man and then loses the ball it's frustrating, but he's learning, albeit slowly that there's only so much you can do, and only so many quality balls you can supply in a game. I agree that someone should take him under their wing as such, but surely he can learn a lot more from his mistakes. After all, I'm not saying he's perfect. He's not far off, but he's not perfect. Maybe Macca and co could teach him a thing or two, and with some persiverance he'll learn quicker. Still no one's xplained why I'd be more interested in his front or his back!
