Ian Cooke

It was a great pleasure, after a fractious Bryco Cup with AFC Wimbledon last week,to meet Ian Cooke in the opulent setting of the Horsham FC boardroom (portakabin). He has become closely involved with the AFC set up and it is always gratifying to see former players re-establishing links with the clubs they represented. Ian had a long and distinguished career with Wimbledon in the Southern League but circumstances prevented him from going full time when they were elected to the Football League. He joined Slough instead and spoke warmly of his time with the Rebels. He recalled playing with Tim Turl, Peter Feeley and Barrie Friend in particular. He was concerned to learn of Slough's present plight (not easy to explain in a short conversation) and wished us well.

Can't post without thanking everyone concerned for one fantastic day last Saturday week. I've followed Slough for over 45 years and it was certainly up there with any of the other great occasions in the club's history. Just proves, too, that there is always more to look forward to.

Thanks too for the kind words about Horsham FC in the Handbook. We very much hope to renew our acquaintanship in Ryman Premier next year.
