Well played to you guys today

Went to the game today as an unbiased neutral (I'm a Southend fan who was too lazy to travel to Yeovil!)and I have to say I was very impressed with how not only your makeshift team, but your fans coped with the way things are at the moment. The little pocket of you by the halfway line never stopped singing, even when you went 2-1 down with only a few minutes to go. Full credit to you at what must be a horrific time, not even knowing who you're going turn up and see playing for your team each week.

I have to say if you manage to keep most of that team together for the foreseable future then you should do well this season. I don't know what your situation is as to whether certain players will be around more than game by game but even after all of this you seemed to have picked up some strong players. Carruthers, who I've obviously known from 3rd Div/League 2 days, could be a cracking player for you whilst on loan, whilst Downer was impressive as well. Sigere, if not a little selfish, was always dangerous and despite the howling miss, the young lad up front from Northampton was also pacy and dangerous. Get them 2 in behind defences and you'll win games. I notice you've got a former Shrimper, Chris Perkins in as well, and he'll do a decent job for you. I hope you get rid of Baruwa though. What's that all about!

I'd like to say Garry Hill deserves a lot of credit as well, as I understand he took a lot of stick last week at Boston, yet still made a joke out of it. Whilst today he took a huge amount of undeserved abuse from the Grays fans but still laughed it off.

Finally, I never knew it until today, but Grays fans must have the biggest collection of chavs known to man. Not only that, but they continually whinged throughout the entire game and not once did they sing anything about their actual performance until the 2nd goal went in, preferring to taunt Garry Hill and you guys. I was also disgusted at the fact that I clearly saw a couple of them spit on your No3 when he went to collect the ball in the 2nd half. Pathetic.

Good luck for the season, and all the best throughout your troubles from a Shrimper.

Wasn't me unfortunately. I suppose that means there must have been another Shrimper there. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

No problem about the kind comments, I've just posted what I thought and saw at the time.

P.S. Can you loan us a few players??

There's actually a couple I'd like see go to you. Whether they will or not I don't know, although supposedly Garry Hill is good mates with Steve Tilson, which is actually how we knew about all your players leaving before it was announced.

First of all there's Michael Husbands. He's young (20/21 I think) and was at Aston Villa before us. He's a striker/right winger and is scarily fast, and I mean scarily fast! He just lacks that final bit of quality at the end of it, but it could come with experience. He's been frozen out and is actually out injured for a couple of weeks after a trial at Forest Green. I've no doubt he could do alright in your league with his raw pace.

Secondly is Stuart Williams who is our youth team right back with a very promising future. He's been a regular for our reserves since he was 17 or so and is probably our brightest prospect other than Michael Kightly who's on loan at Farnborough at the moment. I really think he could have a good future with us and personally, I'd like to see him go out on loan to a Conference National or South club to get some games.

There you go, have them both. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smash.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/top.gif" alt="" />
