Councillor FACTS

Recommended Posts

Having looked at the results from the 2004 local elctions that are posted on the councils site I have come up with the following FACTS

Haymill

Turnout 27.87%

Total Votes cast 4154

Total eligible to vote 14904

Votes for R Stokes 939

R Stokes Votes as a % of total eligible to vote 6.30%

Britwell

Turnout 30.93%

Total Votes cast 4772

Total eligible to vote 15428

Votes for P Janick 1151

P Janick's votes as a % of total eligible to vote 7.46%

I will let you make your own minds up about how representative these councillors are of the feelings of the residents of these wards let alone Slough.

p.s. Well done Paul you beat Richard on both number of votes and percentage - maybe you should be leader of the council?

Number of Slough fans at match vs Walsall: Minimum 1,500 plus comps etc maybe 1,700.

I would start to feel nervous if I were you.

Be careful with quoting numbers:

Population of Slough = 119,000. Average Slough Town home league attendance = 319 or 0.268% of population. Even the bumper FA Cup attendance is still only around 1%. No-one would be elected onto the Council supported by only 1% of the electorate. I just make the point that numbers (even when they are facts) can be spun to suit any point of view.

Yes maybe so about percentages !

but the feelings of the Slough people are rising even though they might not come along to our matches on a regular basis....

They certainatly know about us now ! and they are begining to understand that the Rebels ! are the most major club in Slough without a home ! for what ever reasons...! In the past.....and would support a move back to Slough too...

We have never fought on this issue but maybe we can and might just be surprised !!! along with those independants !!! That the feelings of the Slough people for they Towns football team.

<img src="/forum/images/graemlins/megaphon.gif" alt="" /> We don't know until we have tried.

Up the Rebels.... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/megaphon.gif" alt="" />

Chris is right.

Decorum you will notice that both Stokes and Janil were elected by less than 1% of the population of Slough. Albeit the vast majority of the people can't be arsed or are ineligible to vote.

I think that if we keep the pressure up and stay in the spotlight more than just the regular 300 and those that turn up for the big ones will be asking serious questions of our elected "representatives."

Regardless of the facts & figures the best way to put pressure on the council would be to beat Yeading, get a decent draw (top 5 premier club) have the BBC show our game live and then do the demonstrations again!

Shame them in to action

Sounds easy.......

Up the Mighty Slough

Remember though that Stokes and Janik have a special way of calculating percentages as in their world 363 out of 3700 equates to a majority view. That's the way they argued that people didn't want the Britwell regeneration to incorporate a football stadium.

Can I borrow your calculator, councillor, as I've got a pay review coming up in January?
