Tomorrow's Slough Observer

Chris

Recommended Posts

There's an interesting couple of articles in the Observer this week.

Talking about the red card protest Cllr Stokes said, "That's a much better approach than repeating false statements."

Meanwhile on page 5 of the same edition, "In a letter to Tesco Paul Janik claimed Cllr MacIsaac was threatened and intimidated by Tesco representatives". Cllr MacIsaac states however in the same piece that "At no time was I threatened or intimidated by anyone at that meeting."

Now who exactly is guilty of making false statements?

what a bit like Janick on the front of the Slough Express ....in a ward that is not his !

What Happened in the Express ! The whole town was talking about our great Team...while the Express wanted to put a picture of Janick in the dark !

Not meeting in the dark, with another group ??? was you Paul ???? after midnight ?

The Express covered us well in the paper, but I feel a Front page headline of the Rebels should be better (in my Opion) As this was a piece of History in the making !

I appreciate the point Warren but if you look at the huge space at Upton and then consider that you have Kedderminster Park and Lascelles within spitting distance you would think they could spare a bit.

I was playing football at Upton in the summer and aside from us I saw two other people using the space. Clearly not appreciated and underused. I think it is safe to say if we were given a corner we would use it and look after it.

Personally I think back to the Dolphin would be best. It is a scandal that the site was sold in the first place, a scandal that it was given to Tesco and now another retail park? [****!!****]. I found it quite funny that local residents were saying they don't want more shops they want housing. Not often you hear that....

Can the council not stick development restrictions on that?

Lots of good points in the above posts, but on here we are preaching to the coverted. Keep those letters going in to the Observer and the Express.

If you didn't write a letter to the papers last week, do so this week. Remember we are only 1 defeat away from being off the front page.

Martin, it is a shame these parks are underused - although when i've gone through Salthill, that always seems busy (especially at night! was that janik i spotted over there last night!)

- but i would find it really hard to support the club building on parkland (and allotments) - who knows in years to come they might be well used, but once they've been built on that's it.

Is the Dolphin idea a no hoper? I expect the land is too expensive, and anyway from reading the papers Tesco are far more powerful than the council and seem to always get their way.

Couldn't the Trust put an outline planning application in for kennedy park - would at least create a stir and wouldn't cost that much!

Must also say, the coverage in the local papers was pretty brillant, especially the Observer - the red card protest worked really well because it became a seperate news story as well as the victory, so big pat on the back to Ian etc for came up with the idea.
