City 2-1 up...

Recommended Posts

Well, the first half was terrible. One of the worst bits of football that I've had the misfortune to see. We were awful, and they weren't much better.

I'm sure (correct me if I'm wrong) that one of our players told one of our supporters to "F***ing shut up you **** or I'm come over there and knock your f**king teeth out", or words to that effect. If he wasn't saying it to the St Albans supporter then it was to the Broxbourne goalie (he didn't seem to mind if it was him). It wasn't as if the Saints supporters were doing anything wrong or saying anything bad either! Maybe the players was just a bit cold and hence grumpy? Who knows - it's not a very nice thing to say though! Anyway, Broxbourne scored in the 45th minute to make it 1-0 at HT.

The second half was a little better, not much! I know we scored three goals but I don't think we played particularly well. Two goals for Parker, both comning from crosses from the right wing (I think the second goal was from either a free kick or a corner - god, my memory is bad!). The last one was well into injury time, and scored from Marwa - a nice little tap in. Good result but plenty of room for improvement.

The City supporter mentioned above was Wolfman. I'm not sure what he said but the response was unnecessary and I hope the new management will stamp this kind of behaviour out. The game was bad tempered through out with the Broxbourne players continually swearing at the ref. Hardly the attitude expected for the Herts Senior Cup!

Hi Zagreus.

You should have been at Grays last season, mate! Last night's first half was a feast of champagne football in comparison.

No, it was dire last night. Perhaps it was me but there seemed to be a strange atmosphere around the team last night. All very down-beat from the start. I would have thought that they would have been looking to impress the new boss. Anyway. he has plenty to do. [The two new players were cup-tied last night, by the way on the '7 day' rule.]

A match report should be on the web-site later today.

As far as the incidents involving Parker are concerned, I chose to stand just beside the two dug-outs [to get a better view of the match rather than to curry favour with the Dynamic Duo, you understand, although I was ready to explain my preference for the 4-4-2 system if required] and I did not spot any 'issue' between any player and our fans. Therefore, I would imagine that Stuart Cash is unaware, too.

It's all very frustrating. Apart from the obvious benefits of a 'good start' by the new guys, they may have been able to turn their attention to issues other than the 1st team sooner rather than later. As it is, all efforts will be directed to the immediate pressing problems, I guess.

Roll on Margate.
