Ho hum. So Andy is now just a smug git having been downgraded from insufferably smug today. Unfortunately the wheat beer (Kloenk) would have been better served cold but everything was at room temperature -- warm despite the sleet and snow which made a 20 minute appearance at about 2pm. The mild (Frogswisher) got disturbed and clouded slightly on the way to Sutton.

 

Still, much fun was had by all. 46 beers this year and only one really bad one. I tried about half of them. I suggested Andy should brew Revival for next year's bash (2 April in Derby).

Cyclops-sound like pretty well done to Andy, as ever. Shame you missed the game yesterday, but I think you'd have had a problem with the officials. I felt sorry for the big fella; he only got to use his flag twice in the first half!

 

He confessed that the ref only allowed him to do offsides. That was a shame as Seb was held in the box two if not three times!

I felt the lino on the stand side had a good game.

 

I liked the way he stuck his ground for the corner decision in the first half - definitely made the ref look ................. (ESL standard).

 

That's probably unfair as I have noticed refs in the ESL are improving in recent weeks. Couldn't get any worse.

...he did brew Southbury Road Black Armband (a very bitter stout) to mourn the passing of the old ground, an IPA called Revival to celebrate the new club (the first batch was brewed on the day of our first ever game) and a not-particularly-mild mild called Middlesex Dark Ruby. Revival, if I remember correctly, put our esteemed chairman to sleep! I think Ron Merlin tried all of those three so no doubt he could tell you how good they were.

 

Southbury Road Black Armband was very dark and bitter and suited the mood of the times very well indeed. Revival tasted light and optimistic, matching the upbeat mood of the Town's launch. Can't remember the Dark Ruby. Proper beer! Excellent stuff.

 

A Revival revival would be most welcome. Get Andy on the case! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
