For once I agree with CANV. Geldof is kidding himself if he thinks that cash raised by this "third" version of the song will benefit anyone....

 

Actually, my take on it is that, it's a publicity stunt to promote the DVD box set. And watching the DVD only confirms what I thought of the event in first place... with the exception of a couple of performers and bands, a p*ss poor event as far as overall artist performance.

 

And whilst I'm in my stride...what money does geldof expect to raise with the singles market in terminal decline due to sales....?

It has been noted that Dire Straits "Brothers In Arms" was doing very badly before Live Aid....Then...Ooooo lookie here...a no.1 album.

 

As for Queen...well, the only good thing to come out of it was their performance and they deserved a career boost.
