Was that our best FA Cup result ever?

Was that our best FA cup result ever? I said to Eddie in the Stag and Hounds after the game I reckoned it was up there with Millwall, but he, unsurprisingly said it was better – no ground, and five leagues below them – he’s got a point. What do people think?

It was an excellent atmosphere after the game in the pub, even if it was overrun by Chelsea fans. They were all singing Chelsea songs when the players came in, and someone shouted ‘have some respect’ and they all started singing ‘Rebels’! Most of these will only come to big games and only if Chelsea are away, but that has always been the case, but hopefully a few of the younger fans will stay – let’s all be really welcoming, especially the group directly behind the goal who were well up for singing and shouting.

I think I’ve got to apologise to Gary and others for sending them flying after the second goal – I was a bit too over excitied. I also lost all the bloody red card flyers during the celebrations!

Fair play as well to the Walsall supporters for their behaviour before, during and after the game (why did we need so many cops, and how much did that cost?). Just before the demo I went to their chief steward and asked if he could hand them out to Walsall fans and he was more than happy. But when I went in the press area, I was told I wasn’t allowed to leave any in there!

Still, one of my best ever days watching the Rebels, we’ve got to beat Yeading, as it really will focus attention on our homeless plight. I’m still pinching myself that we are in the second round!

Team of the round by the FA ....another local boy scores the winner !

Better fans from Walsall compared to the old Millwall (on that day) ...must not get sterotyped

like the rest of society !

No trouble at the game....

Yes the Best.....so far in our 112 years history......

I wonder if we can find out who the Senior Police Officer in charge of the game was - I am sure Roy will know as he had several meetings with the Police, and get them to give us a "reference". If perhaps we could get Gary Chappell to get them to give him a quote, since that was one of the objections the BILLD held up against us. 2000+ crowd against league opposition in a small space - trouble - WHAT trouble?

I think a direct quote from the Senior Officer in charge and also the Walsall stewards is an absolute must.

It would also be interesting to put that in context with how many arrests were made in Slough pubs on Friday/saturday night or, even more interesting, how many times the Police were called to a particular area of the town (you know the one) at the weekend.

Yes, that was definitely better than the Millwall game. I seem to remember Trevor Aylott missing half a dozen sitters in that match and we sneaked it right at the end, it probably could of been about 6 - 1 to Millwall. On Saturday I never felt they troubled us that much even with all the possession they had. In fact the longer the game went on the more Slough looked like getting a third. The last 15 minutes was hardly backs to the wall stuff. I did not even feel it necessary to waste time by the corner flag because if they had of been there all night long they would not of scored. Just shows how Saulsbury, Murph and Daly have really gelled.
