Slough Town v Yeading FA Cup 2nd Round

While it is kind of a good thing that we have drawn Yeading home, it is absolutely vital that neither the team nor supporters underestimate.... I seem to remember the same thing happening after we beat Millwall way back in 82.... drawing Bishops Stortford at home and getting thumped 4-1!!!!!

But from what I see that doesnt seem to be happening now!!! Just keep focused on the next game you see.... and then tailor what you need when the Yeading game arrives. From what I have read and seen it seems that we can definitely beat Yeading and finally get in the same draw as the big boys.

Keep it going and I am sure Slough will prevail and arrive on the big stage!!!

Unlike with certain previous incumbents of the managerial position, I don't think Eddie will have too much difficulty getting the guys fired up for the Yeading game.

(Although the casual supporters who attended the Walsall game might be a different matter - I doubt that many of them will be fussed about watching what is, on certain levels, 'just another league fixture'.)

As mentioned by someone else above, it will be very hard to take if Slough do not manage to beat Yeading. (Losing to Walsall would have been a lot easier to cope with!)

However, I have just re-read the match report for the Slough - Yeading 2-2 draw at the end of September, and the following quote should be heartening for those, like me, who had forgotten the situation then:

"...a Slough team that were so short of players that only three of the five named substitutes were actually available to use."

(Hodges and Hakki, among others, were injured and Whincup was stuck on the M25!)

So, with a full-strength team (please no injuries between now and Dec 4th!) I think the match will be won by the team who want it the most - and if the reaction after the Walsall match is anything to go by, that team could well be Slough Town.
