Depends who we draw... obviously the BBC don't care as much about FA Cup highlights on MOTD this season.

I think that was clearly proved. They get an extended show to put FA Cup highlights on there, so they squeeze in as much Premiership stuff as possible and put a token gesture of footage in for the FA Cup. It's a joke. It's even worse this morning as well. It's not as though there wasn't plenty of footage for them to use either.

Just watched the repeat this morning and it didn't even touch the FA Cup. Hope they show some footage before the Thurrock game later. There's some stuff on their Interactive thing, but what a disgrace.

Not to mention Gubba's awful commentary, which sounded as if it had been dubbed afterwards - he was struggling with the names, which I suppose is only to be expected if he had not done any homework beforehand. I noticed a lot of the teletext reports had 'Daley' and the MOTD coverage - despite team sheets being printed for all press had Saulsidrury. Totally peed off.

Why did they bother? Had Walsall won comfortably you could understand the lack of coverage but surely the purpose of employing 25+ people to record a game like this, with all the setting up and costs that are incurred in the process, is because they're hoping for a shock result which is exactly what they got.

 

I know we're not in a position to do it but if we were offered highlights coverage for the next round, given the amount of running around Roy has had to do to accommodate the MotD team, I'd be inclined to tell them to shove it up their ar$e based on this.

For what it's worth, I have it on video if anyone wants it, and we will be approaching the BBC for full coverage of the match to sell in the club shop.

Isn't it great to know where our licence fee goes. It must have cost them a fortune to get all the cameras and outside broadcast kit to the ground yesterday and to erect all the gantries and hire the crane etc. not to mention the money they pay STFC and Walsall for the coverage.

You also have to feel a bit sorry for the BBC staff present who would have played no part in the decision to show such little coverage. If I'd have been one of the cameramen freezing my bits off for several hours, I know I'd be a bit peeved.

I don't feel at all sorry for the BBC cameramen. They were a miserable bunch.

 

Everyone else showed at least an interest in the red cards, even the Bill showed a professional interest (presumably checking violence wasn't being incited).

 

The BBC camermen couldn't even be bothered to grunt "No" and just blanked me. Ignorant tossers obviously felt they were too important to even speak. I sincerely hope their bits did freeze as it will stop them from breeding.

 

The Wasall fans were great though--very interested and supportive.

Gary if you do approach the BBC for highlights of the match, try and get them to correct Saulsbury's name!

it is pretty obvious that both the BBC and ITV are only interested in the Premiership and Championship. Along with most league managers they think that the best place to get new players is by importing cheap established foreign players. Building a Youth team or signing from non league needs both time and skilful judgement. So why do they bother. Might be in the contract!!

At least we got £13,000 for being on tv, how ever long it is. Will go someway to helping the club in the future.

 

Personally I would like to see the lads with their names on their shirts for the next match.

I agree with what you guys said. When Billericay lost i was resigned to not getting any coverage of us on the box, but i was quite looking forward to some action from the other games especially yours. They put back the show to half 11 ish, and then put a measly 15 minutes of coverage at the end of the show, so it starts about 1am. What is the point of covering the fa cup if your not going to do it properly. This is the biggest day of the football calendar for countless fans and they might have well just ignored it. I dont have interactive so i cant even watch the Stevenage goal, as i would have liked to have seen New Lodge on the box just for novelty value.

Absolute waste of time me watching the show, and even worse i had to put up with peter schmeichal spouting nonsense for the whole show

On another note Gary, great idea to try and get the full coverage of the game to sell on VHS/DVD. I reckon STFC would sell loads and make a bit of extra cash for the club.

I think that Roy mentioned that all the Slough players got a full 90 minute video of another match--Macclesfield?

 

If that could be duplicated it would sell too. Could be a decent earner.
