Ah, football...!

Finally got the close season out of my system by popping along to Sutton last night (as it's only 10 minutes from work) to watch the new AFC Wimbledon. Nice little pay day for the chocolate and yellow contingent as they pocketed 4,600 lots of seven pounds each. So many people it was almost possible not to notice the ground falling to pieces.

 

Wimbledon played in shirts with no numbers because their kit hadn't turned up, so the ref couldn't book anyone! From Premiership to this in two years!

 

Good luck to them, though. Had some bright youngsters who more than held their own in the first half, until Sutton brought on some wonder striker at half-time and scored four.

 

Glad to see that the grizzled old Sutton whingers who stand along the side haven't all died off yet. A few less teeth between them, and they spent the whole 90 minutes venting what was left of their spleens at their No.9 Fowler, just as they did when we played them.

 

And I allowed myself a smile at all the talk of travel to Hampton, Ford and Grays. Ryman, Schmyman. Bring on the Conference! <img src="/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I was under theimpression that Sutton were going to split the proceeds 50-50 with AFC Wimbledon, as will Kingstonian when they play them. <img src="/forums/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" />

The AFCW fans I was with weren't sure whether they were getting any gate money, although they did print their own programmes, and announced a six-figure sponsorship deal, so they're not short of a bob or two.

From what i was told AFC Wimbledon got £1 from every entrance fee.

Be fair to us our ground is crumbling like yours and Matt Fowler is a bit pants

With the new terracing, our ground isnt too bad now - yes, it still needs work doing - the stand, and crush barriers at one end, in particular, but I would scarcely use the word crumbling.

Mind you, so have we. There's a bloke behind the Halfway Line who sounds like an F-16 taking off when he starts moaning.

I'd be a liar if i said that the graveyard/bus shelter was full of happy optimistic people (and young) and it wasn't that i was moaning about it was the comment about the crumbling ground

I suppose I should know that as well but after six years of identifying tanks' mudguards, I couldn't tell an F-14 from a Proton.
