Utter Disgrace

i also never said Ollie looked like he was going to score (no one looked like they were going to score) i just said he is more likely to score.

alright then Ken, but to me that sounds like the same thing. He still looked more likely to score! I still think i made a valid point! We do need to improve certain areas and tactics because some of the tactics baffle me sometimes.

I and many others were left a bit shell shocked by the second half. Be interesting to see how Aldershot go on and do after this as they seemed to really click, although how good they really were? They might even be worth a couple of bob against Hartlepool if they can defend okay and attack like that.

Sounds like a good ploy with the friendly game on Tuesday, just to get back to winning ways, hopefully! But a lot is about confidence and could well be that kind of booster with the self-belief we need at this point in time.

We have done exceptionally well so far in this learning curve of a season and who would of said we would be beating the likes of Exeter and drawing at Carlisle and York etc. In fact two wins takes us up to the play off area, if that was needed.

Being fans, we have to take the rough with the smooth, and it was definitely rough in the second half last Saturday.

Again on Saturday, we were against a full time team, but definitely came off second best in the end.

I don’t know the reason for that second half performance but we must remember who we are, how much we have achieved, where the club is at this point in time and what is reality.

That was a low point on Saturday and I expect there will be more low points in future, but just step back and think about what has actually happened in the last 12 years now. It’s been a fantastic time overall with two trophy final appearances, several upsets against league opposition and a 3rd round FA Cup match (which we worried the life out of a Championship team) and we are still on the up!! What lies ahead for the “little Island team” in future?

Looking into my little crystal ball - it looks like another 4-0 thrashing this time by Hereford

Most of the points that have been raised after the shots game have been raised previously in one form or another.

Whats happening with midfield, why aren't we scoring, choice of players and who starts - they have all been discussed in one context or another after a disappointing game.

The current team seems to click on occassions against certain types of play and on others we look very shakey. Some players excel in certain games and others have a nightmare, the following week it's vice versa.

The bit that stands out is consistency - players who are comfortable playing week in week out against clubs who hoof the ball or play it on the deck. It's these teams that will make promotion, although good tactics and decisions are also a factor. Sounds as though Shots had this on Saturday with a few key signings and the urge to finish the game without replays etc.

There hasn't been that much consistency this year with players starting, injuries and runs of poor form.

As a fan you just want your team to give it 100% in the name of you and your club - it's frustrating when it doesn't happen and it can even make you resort to using the word Sh*t after every other word when you have paid a lot of money and travelled a fair distance - eh Ken

I think I have resigned myself to this being our first year of discovery and this will mean the odd drubbing - which lets face it - we aren't used to as fans. We will finish mid table, unless some miracles occur, the ground will hopefully get under way and next year some of those players that haven't performed, are to old, not experienced or just claiming the cash will be replaced.

In 5 months time we'll be asking each other what our highlights and low points have been for this year - Aldershot may be our low point, but there is still a long way to go and I'm sure we have many more highlights to come.

just one question, i know that it spoilt my weekend of bairthday celebrations, but why have we played our new signing yet, i would of thought a player with his experience could of made a little bit of difference, especially this weekend. By the clips i had seen on the bbc, it looks as if our defence decided to have a picnic than play football. I also havent heard anything how keeling played on saturday, or if he played, i was sure he would of also made a difference

From A shots perspective I was nervous at half time but from the moment the 2nd half kicked off you could see we wanted it far more. Very suprised at how poor Canvey were and the lack of spirit and fight that they showed maybe just an off day we'll see in the league soon enough. Beware Hereford they are a damn good side!!!

ps - the trumpet player was quite entertaining!!

Reading through the programme on Saturday, the Shots had just Bull and Mclean out there from the team we played at Park Lane two seasons ago, so there has been an incredible amount of movement within the club, and they appear to be progressing still.

From comments made, we basically have the Ryman team still intact which we quietly hoped would give account of themselves in the conf and they have done overall with some big results. As mentioned, it’s a division however where its close throughout and even the teams who may have lost by 4 goals or so earlier, are turning it around to draws and wins lately.

We have not had a run of poor form. From my understanding, we were very unlucky in only our last league game against Northwich, which does not suggest poor form. Our poor form, if there was any, was at home if anything until we started banging in the goals.

I thinks its plain to see that we do lack in certain areas and the playing staff will have to undergo change I would of thought if we wanted to progress to a higher level. I feel we need another momentum from somewhere. The infusion of mainly Ipswich players in the past few years has brought great things but if we want to go onto greater things, a change will have to occur.

But for now, where can we go if the squad is changed. These players overall do give a good account of themselves in the conf and for the time being, that’s all we really want until the decision to push on a bit arrives.

Again, don’t know what happened to the team in the second half on Saturday but we are not used to that. Either Jeff would have been raging mad or there were reasons which we did not know about. Certainly not like a Canvey team to throw in the towel like that and still with 45 to go, so I assume there were reasons. But hopefully this was a one off for whatever reason and I think we can allow them that eh guys.

Sometimes from these kind of events, you learn and emerge stronger in the longer term. Look at Wigan!!

keeling was ok and made some good runs but was knocked off the ball easily meaning he couldn't get the crosses in and generally had to play back.

as far as I know Williamson isn't fit yet.

Hallen would have put up a better fight than we did in the second half,

These postings were forecast in previous seasons, Jeff his staff and the players need adjustment time, all the players were selected and tuned in to getting out of the ryman

Now Jeff and his staff must assess who can do it at Conference (1) and that is probably a full seasons task, all the money outfits such as Diamonds and Shots have found that money alone fails, you have to build again and Jeff!s record says he will achieve that change

It was also forecast that for supporters the stuff of loyalty was hanging in there with full support in mid-table and all silverware opportunity gone

If Jeff keeps enjoying himself Canvey will prepare and start forward again

Super canvey must be one off our most ardent supporters (i don't think - TWAT) as boylan has been out with a broken ankle since the stevenage game, which at that point he had seven goals to which the top scorer in the league only had eight.

He has missed the last 6 games because of this so please get your facts right before coming on here with your embarassing remarks. If you want to get stats right look elsewhere in the strikers role for your unwanted comments.

I must agree with one thing you stated, we do need an additional BIG striker that can actually win high balls and be as mobile as boylan, which gregory is not.

It's clear we had a shocker on Saturday - and we are not used to experiencing those. But rather than wallow in the awfulness of it all, let's put it behind us and help the team do the same by supporting them against Hereford - who are not far ahead of us in the Conf. We haven't suddenly become a bad team, so far (I think) we have done well this season in the league. Of course there will be setbacks, but at least Saturday did not cost us any points. If those who were there are wondering what went wrong, no doubt the players are too and they will need some encouragement next time. We will all have varying opinions on players, but let's get behind the team (whoever plays) and help them get a result against Hereford.
