Please, Please, Please Let Us Get Wycombe

Firstly, many many congratulations on today. It has been wonderful to read about the build-up and the hard work that has gone into your preparations and has culminated in an historic result.

Secondly, as a Rebels fan of old who now watches Wycombe, I would be SO pleased to get this fixture on, ideally at Adams Park. The older fans will remember the fantasic rivalry over many years and in particular that final Conference game in the year STFC went bust and most of us (me included) couldn't get into the ground.

Most of the Wycombe fans now are too young to remember the non-league days and have forgotten their 'roots'. Today at Wycombe there was a crowd of under 3,000 of which just about 1,000 were from Colville. It would be fantastic to have a 2nd Round game with something really worth fighting for (on the pitch), quite apart from the money for the win and the chance of a plum 3rd Round tie.

Congratulations again and let's all hope for the draw tomorrow! [color:"black"] [/color]

Yeah it would be great, I was at Adams park on that day with the attendance at near 8,000 a record for non-league then, and it would be brilliant to recreate the atmosphere. I even remember all you poor sods up on the hill chanting down into the ground! But becoming a Wycombe fan after slough, surely thats akin to being Jesus' best friend and worshpping satan after Jesus has a bad day.

Point taken!

When I started work in the 70's (in Marlow) I went with many of my work colleagues to see Wycombe in their many FA Cup exploits which featured various Slough old boys (e.g. John Delaney and Terry Reardon)

Then, through playing each Saturday and later work commitments, I only got to a handful of games over a 15 year period.

I suppose the big decision arose when I decided to inculcate my two daughters into football (truth be told, this was probably for selfish reasons, to get a 'pass' for myself!) The opportunity arose when a friend who took his small sons to Wycombe, invited us to join him at Adams Park. That was about 10 years ago. The rest, as they say, is just history.

I still look out for all the Slough results and have thoroughly enjoyed the romance of the cup via the wonderful Coalville fans today and from reading the many comments on here.

As for my daughters, they still enjoy coming to Wycombe and fall about laughing when I talk about the old days at Slough Town - Skelmersdale, Walton & Hersham, Crook Town etc etc.
