Anone know how he did on Wednesday - I know England beat Italy 1-0 (as per Confguide) but it would be nice to hear how Ben played.

I read somewhere he stayed on the bench. Still, the experience will have done him good, and as he has done nothing wrong, I presume he will get selected for the next game.

Shame if he didnt get on the pitch - after all, they took only 16 players and you would have thought the rules could have allowed all 5 subs on the pitch?

Unfortunate not to get on the pitch especially as they only took 5 midfielders and played 4:4:2

Still, a tremendous achievement to be part of the squad.

Wasn't the match almost a Barnet friendly game. I suppose its a good chance for the manager to scout potential recruits.

IMHO Fairclough shouldn't be managing the Non-League team, whilst he's with Barnet. Apart from being biased, which he's bound to be, how can he watch players regularly when he's with his own team all the time. I believe Ben Surey did play for about 15 mins yesterday

Fairclough may well be biased, but he can't win either way, as was pointed out on a confguide thread a while ago. If he selects lots of Barnet players, people accuse him of favouring his own team, whereas if he leaves them out, you could say that he is trying to avoid them picking up injuries.

Why accept the job then?

As I understand it he offered to step down when he took the Barnet job and the FA declined.

I spoke to Ben at Carshalton yesterday, he said he got on for 10 minutes towards the end but really enjoyed the experience.

I see from the NLP that there are plans for more and more Non-League internationals. With so many games and competitions I don't see how a part time player could fit it all in with a job outside football as well. I can see the Non-Leauge team becoming exclusive to full time clubs
