Jake 'The Rebel' Whincup?

PJ-STFC

Just asked the same question on their forum. Would not be a surprise, good signing if that is the case as he is an excellent shot stopper with great potential. I had heard that he wanted to play nearer to home....but perhaps the cup run has persuaded him otherwise.

Eddie Denton phoned me today at 2o'clock to inform me that i would not be playing in the Wallsal game, as he said he felt i didnt have enough experience, and he would be getting another keeper in for the game. My loan deal was due to expire after the game on Saturday.

I feel i did myself nothing but justice considering i played 17 league and cup games and let in only 16 goals, I kept 9 clean sheets and saved 3 spot kicks!

I would like to thank all the fans who have been great and would like to wish the team the best of luck on Saturday and the rest of season.

I now look forward to going back to hornchurch and working with a real manager Gary Hill!!!!!!!

THANK YOU

JAKE

Seems genuine to me. Either way he makes some fair points.

Jake has done an exceptional job for the club. He is young though and has little experience of matches of this magnitude. If Jake plays great and I am pleased for him. If Eddie has opted for someone else I can understand his reasons and Jake's disappointment.

Tough job managing a football team particularly when picking a team for a massive match. I am sure we would all wish Jake well whatever happens.

And now we see the potential issues surrounding non-registered posters. Anyway, that issue aside, whatever Eddie has chosen, I am sure will be the correct decision for the club. If he's decided to drop Jake, then by 2pm on Saturday, it should be forgotten. Jake's a young lad and will have plenty more opportunities to gain experience in matches like this, but in recent weeks, I feel Jake has been below par by his standards and has looked shaky at time.

Don't get me wrong I am a big fan and think Jake is an excellent keeper with a tremendous future. I would be perfectly happy to see him between the sticks on Saturday.

But I also trust Eddie's judgement.

Eddie could get a keeper on loan from any league club who is not cup-tied.

But perhaps it is best not to speculate and wait for some definite news and just look forward to the match.

I know we have had this conversation - but there is nothing to stop me re-registering with Jake Whincup as my user name and then posting something along the same lines. Registration does not prove identity or prove the truth of statements made.

With the rest of what you say I agree completely. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

ok.With what this jake has said is it the real jake or is it someone playing a joke on us before our big day.(cant you track the area of where this has come from).

With his stats they seem quite accurate. But are they right!!! come on boys.

1)would a manager tell a player by phone that he is dropped.

2)would'nt he wait until a training session before a game or on a pre match meal or when he reads out the team sheet.which i would thought they would have considering the occasion.

Come on boys we cant think anything bad until that team sheet is announced on saturday.

Come on you rebels.slough town.

Sorry rog but what is yes and yes.a manager telling him by phone he is dropped before a big match like this?

I would rather find out with the rest of the squad what is the team going to be.

Do you think this a hoax rog?

After reading todays Slough Observer it seems as though there might be some truth in the rumour after all which is a shame because Jake deserves his place. It does not seem very professional if the club is scratching about trying to find a goalkeeper 24 hours before the biggest game of the season so far. Still lets wait and see.
